Hello

 I want to add a picture into a picture. I make wood signs. I want to put a background picture into my signs. How do I do that in qimage? I appreciate any help. Thank you in advance

Hi Rodney,
Based on the screen snap you provided, I am not sure if you really want a picture on a picture, or just a picture on some color.

The trick is to place your image in the queue, and turn on FREE HAND MODE either using the little red F at the top right corner of the preview screen, or click the placement button below it, and select Freehand mode.
Now select your image in the screen, and move it around. Next add your subsequent image (s) by DRAGGING it on top of the first image.
Select that and move it around.
Of course you can make each image into a unique size.

The other option would be that you would want a colored background.
There are a few ways to do that, but the easiest would be to click the button called PAGE COLOR.
I picked an awful pink.... didn't I.

Thank you that helps. the picture that you show is what I want to accomplish. now how do I cut the blue background away from the sign I provided so I can blend it in better to a nicer background like the water you have?

Is this what you require?

Done in Elements 7.

Cut out the Sign and then place on your background image of choice.

I know of no way of doing it in Qimage.

Hi Rodney,
To get any background you like, simply crop it from some image you like, and use the cropped sky as the background using "fit to Page"

I assume you already have cut out that "tombstone" (Our Campsite) and have that available.
Just place that on top of the cropped sky, and it should work for you.

Another attempt to beautify.
This utilizes a Cutout around a crop

Here is an example all made in QU, see attached.
(has a gravestone floated up from that church?  ;D )
It was done using the signature feature where a transparency mask is made for the image. It's a little fiddly, you need to use select colour/levels to create the mask and it's tricky wrt to position and size. It can be done though.
It took me 5 mins to this one but I've done it many time before in the past.

I was not timing myself, but certainly no longer than 5 mins in Elements, time was taken finding the background image on my filing system and saving the original.

Interesting Terry can do it in Qimage, I will have to look up that method.

NB. This video shows how to make a logo and mask for the Qimage Ultimate "Copyright/Signature feature.
This is a PRINT feature so the "background" image it's used for is not modified in any way and the logo or signature can be used multiple times  8)
