I have just received a mailshot email from Mike announcing the new QI One for Mac and Windows. I have d/loaded the Windows trial and rather like it, as I rarely use any of the non-printing functions of Ultimate, and find the UI uncluttered and much easier to navigate around. As my annual renewal sub for Ultimate has now come due, is it possible to renew for One rather than Ultimate instead? I really don't want to have to pay the full initial price of $60 for a cut down version of what I already have.

Hi Nigel,

Qimage One is a product from a different company that supports both Mac and PC, so Qimage One and Qimage Ultimate don't mix and match as far as purchasing.  The good news is that due to cooperation between ddisoftware (QU) and Binartem (Q1), Qimage Ultimate now looks and operates identical to Qimage One.  That is, if you compare Qimage One and Qimage Ultimate, Qimage Ultimate just opens up more features (basically some more buttons and menu items); otherwise the UI's are identical.  We did that because the two companies wanted users who just do basic printing functions to have the same UI and same experience as the high end users who use all the bells and whistles... and users on the Mac to have the same experience as users on the PC whether they have One or Ultimate.

When is the last time you updated Qimage Ultimate?  If you are more than a few versions old (with Qimage Ultimate), you may want to download the latest Qimage Ultimate demo and look at that since a QU renewal may get you what you want.

Regards,
Mike
