Title: No longer able to print in Qimage Post by: NoFlyZone on February 01, 2023, 02:27:53 AM It has to be something simple. I've been doing this printing stuff too long to have these issues and although I'm still a newbie in Qimage - it was working inside of Qimage.
Windows PC - Lightroom Classic - Canon Pro 1000. I just replaced the hard drive and reloaded all the software. I cannot produce a print. Here is the problem. I'm trying to print a 5" x 7" print, but the Qimage software when mouse is hovered over 5 X 7 says the size is too large for the current media. There is no setting that suggests such the case except under properties it displays 19.95 x 13.50 @240 PPI. Still, the actual shown print shows proper 6.6" x 4.73 image size with excellent PPI. Here's what I've tried. Numerous reboots. Lightroom visits that sets the media at 5 X 7. Visits to the Control panel driver that sets all parameters including media at 5 X 7. St the Canon Pro 1000 media at 5 X 7. Use the Canon AI inside Qimage to control media size. Note that the media size in the photo window is indeed 5 X 7. Note that the print is set at slightly below 5 X 7. Now on my second glass of wine and reviewing said parameters. Even the Canon printer window won't allow for the image to be printed due to mismatched size. I've literally spent now maybe 4 hours to produce a print inside Qimage. Haven't actually tried inside of LR since the rebuild ??? One parameter I have never grown accustomed to is the print size panel. Why do I have to specify 8.5" x 11" paper? Why is it not a default? And maybe that is something I missed in the video's? Thanks for the help. Still, the actual shown print shows proper 6.6" x 4.73 image size with excellent PPI. Just one quick question. Did you set the paper size in Qimage? You must tell Qimage what size PAPER you are using.. That will set the driver automatically to the paper size. See screen snaps. In order to get (normal) a printable area of 6.6 x 4.73, you must have 5 x 7 size paper selected. If I select 8.5 x 11 then the printable area changes to 10.77 x 8.26 . ( That is my Epson, My Canon is slightly smaller) This area is controlled by your driver. As for a default print size, and paper size and type, Go to FILE and scroll down to Save and restore settings and after setting everything just the way you want Qimage to open for you, click SAVE MANUAL BACKUP. Let's start here, and wait for Mike Fred Title: Re: No longer able to print in Qimage Post by: admin on February 01, 2023, 02:04:17 PM It sounds like you answered your own question. See attached. The questions you are asking relate to how the driver and printer work rather than anything to do with Qimage. The printable area of a Pro-1000 when you have 5x7 media selected is 4.731 x 6.685 inches so that is the maximum size print you can get on a 5x7 unless you activate borderless mode in the driver.
P.S. As to defaults, there is no need for defaults in Qimage. If you use 8.5 x 11 paper, the next time you open Qimage it'll be using 8.5 x 11 paper because it remembers everything. Add to that the fact that you can save and recall any number of printer setups and there should be no reason you can't get exactly what you want... whenever you want it. Thanks for your help. What happened? For starters, as Fred said, I needed borderless printing selected in the driver. That removed the error message. After that correction I was able to print a test page from Windows printer page and nothing else. Qimage and LR would not communicate with my printer. I also noted that the page setup/Printer setup were incomplete versions of what I was used to such as I had no ability to disable color control, the bugaboo of my printing life (double profiling). Once again I removed the Canon driver and performed a reinstall even adding an XPS driver (which I didn't need of course) which showed how desperate a man gets when he can't print. I just spit out a print and it is perfection. Cheers - Michael |
