odd border colour using epson 2880

Hi guys can any who is using a epson 2880 and ultimate throw some light on this please?
if I select a border to be printed and set the border colour to white, on the ultimate preview page is is correct but on the epson preview page the border is shown as a sort of tan colour and thats what gets printed. But a black border on the preview comes out black , as does a green one etc.
I have looked every where and cannot see why the white border colour [selected by using the drop down menu] wants to print as this tan colour to print and I cannot see where on earth this colour is set, can any one help?
I think a long time ago I selected this tan colour for a border colour but why it is now applied to what should be a white one is beyond me.

I see one possibility based on what you mentioned.

If you click on the border number (1) and hold, you get a drop down that says CLEAR BORDER.
It will clear the border back to 0.00, but it doesn't clear the color.
Therefore, it is possible that you had that light tan in there and it looked white on the outside.
I suggest clicking the (1) button and Select Color, and click on the white box, and make sure it shows the RGB as 255, 255, 255. See snap.

Of course you know that a white border means that no ink is dropped at all on a white border,
You can right click on the Border button and the color will default to white.

I already
clear border
used select colour from the colour swatch 255 255 255
selected white from a image with the eye dropper
all have no effect on this problem

further testing also shows that as I move from white toward through shades of grey black the effect gradually gives way till balck or nearly black prints out correctly as do any colour I select .

obvious question, but does it print white otherwise. e.g. does a black and white chess board image give a black and white print - create it in ms paint or photoshop. I can't see where you have specifically said that whites other than borders are OK. Ignore the driver preview colours, they will be wrong - ink on paper required.

edit- I don't mean black and white in grayscale, but in normal colour space of srgb, whatever

oh yes, I have not a checkerboard to print however a test chart greyscale brom black though to white prints ok as does a image with white in it like snow. if fact what I have done in the interim is look at the image size inc border on the preview the used the specified size dialog to specify a print size minus the border width which then of couse gives the print on a given paper size with a white border

Hi,
2 suggestions to try.
Recall a job from the auto job log (file menu) from before the problem started and before you did that job with a tan border- hopefully you have one that would have had a white border. See what that looks like.
The other option is to re-set Qimage completely from the Help menu, that should clear any corruption to settings that may have occurred. If you have saved Printer set-ups from well before the problem started, it may be ok to recall those, otherwise it'll mean starting from scratch and setting all the preferences in QU again.

Terry , thank you I have found a point in the log history where it works correctly [lets call it job one] and the next job in the log [job 2] does not.

In the border dialog box for both jobs show white but in job 1 it will print white and in job two it prints this tan/skin colourinstead of white.

so while the job one is on screen I have reset sizes etc to the current job I am trying to do and printed with a white border [ whoopee] and then closed the program, reopend it and the white setting is still selected so it seems to have reset it self to the historical settings.

thank you very for the log suggestion this has fixed it and is worth remembering for the future, I have saved these settings as a default setting so I can reset in the event of problem like this again.

I'm pleased hear all is good now; that was easier than a complete re-set. It was a wise move to save the settings. It does sound as though some QU file (.ini) had got corrupted, a rare event for most users I think.
