Title: Print Unclog Job fails
Post by: TDPG on February 24, 2023, 10:38:51 PM
Recently, after printing some jobs, QIU now fails to print Unclog Job. It goes through all the motions including displaying the Epson SC P7000 printer status but nothing prints. Regular prints are fine, i.e. I can print using QIU by adding image files and clicking Print. I can also print directly from other apps.

I couldn't register on this forum (different issue, had to turn off VPN to register) so I e-mailed Forum System Admin who advised I delete my Scheduled Unclog Job and set up new job. That didn't fix problem so I uninstalled/reinstalled QIU. That didn't help either.

Along the way, QIU stopped printing "regular" jobs. I got it working again by Reset Printer (QIU1.jpg)->Current (QIU2.jpg). Thinking that was the secret, I tried resetting Printer & All. Still no joy. I'm baffled, annoyed, tired and ready to beat the snot out of the entire system.

Any guesses what to try next?

After you reset all, did you then try to recreate the unclog job after the reset?  I'm not sure of the order you tried.  To be sure you do things in the right order, I would: (a) delete all current unclog jobs and schedules, (b) do your reset-all, (c) recreate the unclog job setups/schedule.  If you tried that, the next steps are:

(1) Click the gear button to the right of the Properties button and uncheck all Driver AI options.  Then repeat the reset all and recreate your unclog job.
(2) Failing that, uninstall and reinstall the printer driver.

There aren't many more suggestions I can give because no one has ever reported a problem even similar to this one.

Regards,
Mike

Thanks, Let me try this. I Deleted Jobs first, then Reset All (I think.) I'm beginning to lose track even though I try to keep notes. I just printed a regular image using a "QIU Nozzle Check" settings I previously saved for Paper Size.. It printed fine.

I vaguely recall clicking something about Driver AI settings just to see what it did but nothing obvious happened so I ignored it. Thanks for the tips.

This worked.

Almost missed "Then repeat reset all..." Didn't work w/o that step. It seems Driver AI hard sets something that 1) doesn't agree with my system and 2) doesn't clear by just unchecking options.

If I can stomach this again, I'll see if I can replicate the problem next week.

Rinse & Repeat...
Last night, QIU Unclog job failed to print as scheduled, again.
Checked all settings including Driver AI and nothing had changed.
Went to bed, stuck head under pillow and screamed.

Plan for Tuesday, 2/28:
Delete all scheduled Unclog jobs, Reset All
Uninstall v2023-110, reinstall v2022-116
Reset All (just for the hell of it)
Print non-Unclog job as test
Recreate Unclog job and Test
Recreate Schedule and test

Does anyone know if I can upgrade to a version between 2022-116 and 2023-110?
Does anyone have any input/feedback up to this point?
Thanks.

No code has been changed with respect to printing unclog jobs in over a year other than adding the media type in the text description at the bottom of the page and that is just a change of text.

If the symptoms are the same: Qimage is printing the unclog but the printer is just not producing them, then you likely have an issue with the printer.  Initially you said the job is being sent and the printer just doesn't respond, so that is an indication that Qimage is doing its job and you need to look elsewhere for the problem.
