Starting to use demo version of Ultimate again after a long absence. Taking a while to find everything...

I'm starting to set up print-to-file routines for submitting images to online print services. The images are exported as TIFFs from Capture One, the page setup is done in Qimage, and then I save an output file as a quality:95 JPEG.

The TIFFs out of Capture One contain complete EXIF data. But so far, the JPEGs saved from Qimage aren't picking up that metadata.

Can the EXIF data be added to output files in this situation? If so where within the UI is that option switched on?

Typically if I want to view a JPEG or other file's EXIF data, I'll view it in the freeware IrfanView program, which displays nearly all possible EXIF and IPTC data that I'd ever need to see. If I want all of it I'll display it with ExifTool. In Capture One I view the information in the metadata panel. If I want to view the EXIF data Qimage can display, I click the thumbnail and press Control+I. That displays a small subset of the EXIF data, but it's enough for most purposes. In any event I know that the TIFF files exported from Capture One do contain EXIF info.

I think Qimage isn't writing EXIF data to the output JPEG files (see below) because when I view the output files in IrfanView, IrfanView finds no EXIF data to display.

To make the JPEG this is what I've been doing so far in Qimage. I start with File > Print to File. Select page size. Select output profile. Close dialog. In the main window I select the necessary image-size setting, open a directory to display its thumbnails, then place and resize the images as need be. Finally I press Print and select the output directory. The files are saved as quality:95 JPEGs.

The purpose: I'm sending files to a printing service that does not have tools for resizing, setting margins, etc. What I'm after is a 6"x9" (or thereabouts) image on 11"x14" paper. This is how I made most prints for display in the darkroom, back in the Neolithic. To get this from the online printing service I must make an 11x14 output file with everything set up as needed. I'm not familiar with Qimage's "convert" option — I don't know where to find it in the user interface. Would that approach work as well for the above purpose?

I didn't realize that the jpg you referredd to was the Print to File jpg.
That will not carry the exif  BUT
If I really need the data, I use the INFO button which places either "Filename, Filename and Extension, or full exif under the image.
This will copy to the print to file.. If you don't want to see it, just crop it before you print, but it will still be on the Print to File image.

C1 is converting images, not printing to file: QU does preserve EXIF data when converting.  When you print to file, EXIF data is not applicable for multiple reasons, the main one being the one Fred pointed out: you can print multiple images per page.  With multiple images per page, your printed page would have to be stamped with one of multiple conflicting EXIF headers from the images on that page.

Since print-to-file is output created for another device, the important thing is to embed the size (PPI) and the chosen printer profile at the time of print: which QU does.  Embedding EXIF data in print-to-file output just doesn't make sense: EXIF data is only applicable to images and print-to-file produces print pages.
