I am a long time user of Qimage.
Just had to create a new user on this forum as I changed ISP and have no longer access to my old mail address to recover the forum password.

Last week I noticed something I don't understand, I hope you guys can help me out.

I am using Qimage Ultimate v2020.120 which is the up-to-date version at the moment of writing.

I had to prepare a file for my local printlab.
As the image I had worked on did not have enough pixels for the required print size I used Qimage's Print to file to create an upscaled file.
As usual this works like a charm.

My settings for this print job are to use Printer Profile sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (RC, BPC).
I attach screenshots of the configuration windows.

When I look into the header information of the output file I see that the ICC-header Rendering Intent is set to Perceptual.
The print job however used Relative Colorimetric as Rendering Intent.
A file with the header information as produced by ExifTool is attached.

I don't know if the printlab will respect the rendering intent in the file, but, if they do, I would like the information in the file to correspond with my settings, in this case Relative Colorimetric.

Is there anything I can do to make the rendering intent in the output file match the one I selected for the print job?

Profiles don't have a specified rendering intent: they contain all rendering intents in one profile.  You apply a rendering intent when you convert from one profile to a second profile: a single rendering intent doesn't make any sense in the context of just a (color space) profile.  So once you print to file, you get a file with an embedded profile: the color conversion (if any) has already been done pursuant to the intent you chose when you created the file.  I suppose the ExifTool you are using is just reporting "Perceptual" as a default or "preferred" rendering intent.  I'm not aware of any software that will use that tag.  It is likely similar to the EXIF "colorspace" tag which can only indicate sRGB or UNKNOWN: it is not used because it is outdated.  Qimage does honor the rendering intent you chose when printing to file so if you chose RC, it uses RC just like it would if you are printing to a printer.  Long story short, I don't think any type of rendering intent flag in a photo file will have any effect on printing when it comes time to print that file.
