Hello guys,

I have a very annoying problem. When I print an image with size 40 cm by 60 cm the final print is 40 cm by 59,8 cm. The print size on the "with" length of my paper is always correct. However, in the "length" size for 60 cm I'm loosing 2 millimeters (and tested with 40 x 30 cm print too, here I loose 1 mm). I have tested with roll paper and sheets, same result. I'm using an Epson P900.
What's strange too : if I change my image size to 40 by 60,2 it prints me again a 40 by 59,8. Does anyone have an idea what's going on please ? Is my P900 struggling with paper feed ? Anyone same experience with this printer ?
This is very annoying because I can't print the exact wanted size of my photo's.

Not sure if it's related to the Qimage software but I'm wondering if it could be some setting overthere...

Thanks in advance for your help and greetings from Belgium !
Koen

Canvas will shrink along the length which is normal but I assume you are not printing on canvas.  If it still prints 40 x 59.8 even when you add 2mm, it sounds like you just have crop turned off.  When you hover your mouse over the print on Qimage's live view, what size is listed for the print?  Whatever size is listed there is the exact size that is being sent to the driver.  If you get anything other than that size, the issue lies either in the driver or with the printer.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your message. Qimage shows me the correct measures, so my guess is that it's probably related to my printer itself.
I still have my "old" P600 too. I will install it again and do the same test on it. I'll post my result here as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Hello,
Just did a test with my P600 and there is a difference. I ask a 40cm print and the P600 gives my exact 40cm printed area. However, my P900 gives me 39,9 cm. So I think I can conclude that there's something wrong with my P900.
Next problem : to convince Epson about this problem ;o)
This is very annoying because clients ask me a 60cm print and I struggle to print it exactly as asked...

Kind regards,
Koen

Epson will blame the software if you don't have corroborating evidence so be sure to print the same size in other software too so you can tell them it isn't software dependent.  As long as your (driver) settings are the same, you should get the same size in any software.  That way you can tell them you tried it in Qimage, Photoshop, Affinity, etc.

Hi Mike,
Yes, I know. Did the test with Qimage, Capture One and Photoshop. Same result : the P900 has for each print a problem of 1 or 2 mm... When I print exact the same image with same settings/paper/software to the P600, everything is alright.
It's because I need the greater print format, otherwise I could stay with my good old P600...

Thanks for thinking with me and giving advise !

That's an odd one I don't see very often.  The roller/paper must be very slightly slipping or miscalibrated.  IF the P900 prints OK otherwise, you could probably compensate for it in Qimage by using Qimage's canvas shrink compensation.  Even though it's not canvas, in theory it should work.  Maybe try 0.5% compensation and see if it comes out right.

Mike
