I could imagine some unlikely scenario where the Xrite software is modifying the Windows color management settings for the printer and changing something, but even if it did, you'd expect the results to be the same from one print session (job) to the next if you don't change anything.  Doing the steps 1-3 that I posted above, you are not changing anything about the print job and QU doesn't make any changes to Windows settings when you change the profile: so the Xrite software can't know that you changed anything and QU is outputting the same job.  That is, if all you do are the steps 1-3 that I posted.  Changing the Mntr Profile in QU is essentially a placebo with regard to printing: that change will have no effect and won't even be used unless/until you bring up an image on your monitor.

Since the Xrite software can't know what you did in QU, if you get different output in my 1-3 steps, then you'd get different output if you did nothing (didn't change the Mntr Profile), just waited the same length of time, and printed a second time.  It basically means that you are getting different output by simply printing the same exact job 2 times.  Of course, that's a really bad thing: if you get different prints when you send the exact same job to the printer twice.
