I finally solved the mystery of the 1200 versus 600 PPI in Canon drivers.  If you turn off Prevention of Print Data Loss, you get the full 1200 PPI:



There's some misinformation on the internet about this option.  Some believe that the data loss prevention uses some sort of lossy compression.  It has nothing to do with compression.  All it does is change the native PPI of the driver so that software with simple print algorithms (basically everything but Qimage) doesn't get overwhelmed or run out of RAM.  That option should be turned off in Qimage because Qimage won't have any problem with the extra data.  The native PPI of any driver is just a "request" by the driver of what resolution to send.  You can send less... or more, and the driver will still handle it.  So simply put, the data loss prevention settings on a Canon are just a division of 1200:

Off - 1200 PPI
Weak - 600 PPI
Strong - 300 PPI

Well I installed a new SSD on my computer and reinstalled my programs. I can't seem to save my settings. I went back and read the topic and can't figure it out. Help please in saving settings (profiles)...I'm back.lol

Could you explain what you are trying and what is happening?  Are you clicking the save button on the Settings tab and then loading and it doesn't bring the settings back?  We need more info to determine how you are saving and what you are using to determine your settings are not saving (the steps).

Just trying to save all settings in Qimage and my printer. Paper quality,size quality,ect. Saving settings for frequent printing jobs.

I still don't know what process you are using to save the settings and how you discover they are not being held.  Are you talking about the settings that show when you first start QU?  Are you talking about saving and recalling printer setups?  Is it the driver settings that are not "sticking": are you recalling a printer setup and then clicking the Properties button on the Settings tab and those settings are not reflected in the driver?  There are many places in QU where settings are saved and many different types of settings you can recall (like jobs, printer setups, initial load settings), etc.  So I still don't know where you are in the process.

So please just let me know what you are doing from the moment you open QU until the point that you discover your settings are not being saved.  That is, what you are expecting and how that differs from what you actually get.

What Fred said on page 2       "Set it with your favorite paper, best quality setting, and matching profile  from Canon, make a print to be sure all is behaving correctly, and now click on the SAVE button. Top left corner of the screen, second button in from left.
When the box opens Click the P button on the bottom and name your SETUP. Click SAVE".


Now whenever you want to retrieve all of the correct settings, just click the first yellow button (Recall), and when the box opens click P button and you will see that setup which you just saved.
Open that guy, and all is back ready to print as you did before.
It saves all driver settings, profiles, paper size, placement, etc.
Try it.

Since you installed an SSD and reinstalled all of your programs, you might have ended up with a newer printer driver that isn't compatible with old saved setups.  Choose your printer from the printer dropdown and then click the reset button (to the right of those save/recall buttons on the Settings tab) and choose "All".  Then set up your driver settings and other settings manually (don't load any old/saved ones) using the Properties button.  Save, and see if they are recalled correctly.

Sorry to butt in, but the printer never keeps the settings you save .
You have tu use RECALL, the yellow folder button and select the named settings you saved.
Example: If I saved a setup for Epson ultra Luster at an A3 size, Qimage will reset everything to A3 paper, correct paper type, (Luster), Highest Quality, No driver color management (OFF), and proper profile, and ready to print.

If I have my favorite setup that I want QU to open with all set,
Ex: I have Canon P100 printer as my printer, Semi Gloss paper, 8.5 x 11 size, highest quality, correct profile, etc, and I want this every time I open Qimage, simply click the padlock at the upper part of the screen.
That unlocks the setup,
Then click the same button, and click CURRENT.
See screen snaps
