Title: Problem with Layouts Post by: onetrack on February 05, 2013, 07:15:54 PM I've been using Layouts for several years with QI Pro.
I've installed QU demo and am testing. Now when I make a layout with either QI or QU, all looks OK when I save it, but when I try to use it, the image locations have moved. - I had the AutoCrop On; - I saved with Freehand Placement On; - The moved images are not auto-placed, spaced, etc. In fact, they overlap each other. Are QI & QU interacting in some way? Also, my old templates work fine. Thanks, Scott Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: Fred A on February 05, 2013, 07:57:06 PM Quote Now when I make a layout with either QI or QU, all looks OK when I save it, but when I try to use it, the image locations have moved. Hi Scott, Question: How do you get the saved layouts back into Qimage? That is usually the problem. Most people try to Open the layout from RECALL, and Layouts. That's wrong for Layouts. The only way is to use Print Properties and CUSTOM. and tick Layout. The list will open and you select your saved Layout from there. See attached. Fred PS The other way from Recall, is used when you want to modify the Layout Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: onetrack on February 05, 2013, 07:59:32 PM No, I'm selecting the layout via Custom --> Layout, just as I have been doing for several years.
Older layouts still work fine. Thanks Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: Fred A on February 05, 2013, 08:11:05 PM Ok, We eliminated the most likely.
How about this.... Email the .tpl file. They are very small files. In the email try to give me an idea of what you are trying to set up. Then I can have a look and see what's up. Email is wathree.ssz@verizon.net Fred Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: onetrack on February 05, 2013, 08:39:10 PM I will email, thanks.
Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: Fred A on February 05, 2013, 09:56:47 PM Quote Older layouts still work fine OK... That's the problem!! Your page size of 8.25 x 8.25 is the problem... It cannot be exactly even. Even the slightest size adjustment off of perfectly square will remove the problem.I used 8,01 x 8.00 and it works fine. My guess is that the absolutely square page doesn't present a defined horizontal or Vertical. Have to ask Mike for a reason.... but it will work if you change one side by .01 inches Fred Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: onetrack on February 05, 2013, 10:00:25 PM OK, thanks.
I'm sure my lab can deal with a slight difference. Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: onetrack on February 05, 2013, 10:36:10 PM OK, another issue.
I made the paper 8.25 x 8.26 and created a layout from scratch. It comes up and looks normal. The first page populates correctly. When I add another image in Ultimate, instead of creating a new page, I get this: "List index out of bounds (2)" However, in QI-Pro, it works fine, keeps adding pages. When I add another image in Ultimate, instead of creating a new page, I get this: "List index out of bounds (2)" Sorry Scott, On this issue, I cannot repeat. Works perfectly every time. It will continue to populate page after page with no error. I can only suggest that you close Qimage Ultimate and reopen, or even go so far as to reinstall (perhaps even a fresh download and install with your Anti Virus disabled for 5 minutes). Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: Fred A on February 06, 2013, 10:16:56 AM Quote No luck on that solution. Tried removing and reinstalling with anti-virus off, etc. Hi Scott, I have been experimenting here and so far we agree on the square page confusing the layout. It will do that with your layout or mine. Next I used my layouts, (new) used some old ones of mine, and used yours.... it will take as many images as I offer it without an error message. So this has to be something to do with your setup, I would guess. I alerted Mike, so now we give him a chance to investigate. I have an "off the wall" question. Any chance that you save the tpl files to a different location, a different drive, something odd? The reason I ask is that I had come across a few people over the years who saved their setups (tpl, prt, job) to a different drive, but when Qimage loaded the tpl, it went to the old location where there was a corrupted file (tpl) and never picked up the one he just saved/ Anyway, now I will open STUDIO EDITION and see what happens. Patience! Fred Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: Fred A on February 06, 2013, 11:21:36 AM Quote Anyway, now I will open STUDIO EDITION and see what happens. Scott, I don't have Qimage PRO running on my computer, but I do have the Studio Version. I have tested every configuration from your description, and Studio reacts exactly the same as Ultimate. I'll see if I can find a copy of PRO and install it alone in my Windows 8 test system. Fred Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: Fred A on February 06, 2013, 11:59:01 AM Quote I'll see if I can find a copy of PRO and install it alone in my Windows 8 test system I just installed PRO and tested. It works the same as Studio which works the same as Ultimate. The only thing is that PRO made its own folder for the default layouts..... so I had to drill for the saved ones from Studio and Ultimate which share. Fred Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: Fred A on February 06, 2013, 02:29:39 PM TADA!!
Scott, The main man just passed along the answer. If you are using the demo version, it has a limit of 4 prints in the queue. That might include the templates too. So there's nothing wrong other than you need to buy the full version which has no limit! Mike said he has to fix the error message, though, to be more friendly. Hope this helps to sort it all out for you. Fred Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: onetrack on February 07, 2013, 09:25:38 PM It actually had the error when I went to the 2nd page which would have been the 3rd & 4th image. I'll trust that it does work.
Thanks Title: Re: Problem with Layouts Post by: Fred A on February 07, 2013, 09:41:00 PM Quote It actually had the error when I went to the 2nd page which would have been the 3rd & 4th image. I'll trust that it does work. It will work. The 2nd and 3rd images plus templates put you over the limit. It works fine here every time. Fred |
