OK Jamie,
Thanks.
I know Mike would want to be certain that the driver was reinstalled.

Ok, so I've got rid of the scanner, uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the latest one, reset print settings in q but it's still not great. I think it is a tiny bit better but it's difficult to say as the original job that I was working on I've removed all of the filters etc and they're different images I'm working with now. It definitely gets worse with the more images you add and raw files are definitely much slower to add to the queue especially if they have additional filters/cutouts. The main problem is that the queue is cleared every time you do anything and then rebuilt (sometimes 2 or 3 times) so by the time you've added 10 images or more you've got a long wait between clicks. Is this constant clearing and rebuilding normal? Or is there any setting that can turn off the thumb rebuilding in the page preview?

Thanks again

Jamie

It isn't clearing anything, especially the queue.  It's just updating information and page layout.  In addition, raw images won't take any longer to add/work with than any other type of image.  The problem is still your driver.  Go into any program you like and click "File", "Printer Setup" and see how long it takes for your driver window to appear.  If it doesn't appear instantly and there is a delay, you need to figure out what the problem is on your machine that is making the driver hang.  QU accesses variables in the driver frequently and that access should be near instantaneous when it is trying to access variables via the driver.  If it isn't, you need to fix the driver, your machine config, or whatever is causing the driver lag.

Actually, even before I reinstalled the driver there was no lag when opening the driver. It does seem fine, opens straight away so I don't really know what to do other than just accept that that's the way it is, at least on my system.

Have you tried switching to another driver (preferably non-Epson) and doing the same commands?  We need to know if another driver is just as slow or corrects the problem, because it may be some other driver or setting (one I've never encountered) causing lag.

How would I do that, uninstall the driver, plug in the printer and hope windows picks it up?

Ok, so I've tried it with the 'Microsoft XPS Document Writer' from the printer dropdown and it's the same.

Just done another handful of images, similar to before (6 jpgs straight off the camera) but the only filter added was a cutout to each of them and a date stamp. The cutout, like before was just a border so that the date stamp appears on the bottom left of the border instead of directly on the image. Slow again to process, so it seems the problem is with adding cutouts. Not a biggie but at least now I know.
