Title: Q saves image files Post by: dannac on February 10, 2023, 11:10:56 PM I've use Q for many years.
Today is the first time I realized, it's saving extra copies of my images in Program Data / dhh / plugins / export. 12 GB worth. I do not want to save print jobs or anything else. I do not use Q that way. Just want to make my edits in PS, send to Q for printing , close Q and nothing saved. No extra files created. How do I stop this behavior ? Title: Re: Q saves image files Post by: admin on February 11, 2023, 01:33:26 AM Qimage has to save copies to work with. If you never want the ability to go back and open an old (printed) job and you want to clean up the export folder(s), use Utilities, Manage Disk Usage and you can clear out the export (or any other folders) whenever you like. 12 GB is nothing, especially if you've used it for years and never cleared anything: so I would suggest just clearing it maybe once a year if you really need the space.

To me, 12gb is a significant amount. I certainly do not understand why these copies have to be made, if I do not use any of the recall features of QU. I use QU for printing only. My drive C: has my programs and a much larger internal drive D: holds all saved files. Is there a way to have those useless (for me) exports go to the D: drive ? ... regardless, thanks for the reply. Title: Re: Q saves image files Post by: admin on February 11, 2023, 12:55:04 PM 12 GB is insignificant especially for 3 years of work. The Photoshop download on its own is 20 GB just for the program. Much better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. One day you are going to print a photo you've printed before, it'll look a bit different, and you'll want to bring up that past job to see if the settings were different, the exported photo has changed, etc. Or you'll want to check the date of when a photo was last printed. Or many other scenarios.
And of course, you can move the exports anywhere you like. When you install Qimage, it asks where you want the application data: choose the drive/folder you want. Or since you already have it installed, in Qimage use Utilities, Migrate/Copy Application Data and move it to the location you would like to use. Migrate ... would that continue to then send exports to drive D : ? Would uninstall and reinstall somehow get exports to go to drive D : ? Thanks for the reply.
