Qimage 155 won't start

Running Qimage Ultimate 2016.155 under Windows 10. When I try to start it I get two dialog boxes:
Cannot open file xxxx.flt. Access denied. (the file exists and has the proper file attributes)
Exception EFOpenError in module Qimage ....
I can open Q in administrator mode. I have tried resetting printer and ALL setting to no avail. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. When starting the program normally (i.e. not as administrator), I always get the same dialog boxes as described above looking for the same flt file.

Hi Deven,
the only thing I can suggest is you download the file again in case there was some corruption and then re-install with your anti-virus software temporarily disabled.

I double checked the file attribute of the flt file and it was Archive (which is normal).
I renamed the file and started Q and got the same error, albeit with another flt file.
I renamed the directory so Q could not access it, and Q started normally.
I set the active directory to one that worked (and contained flt files). I renamed the problem directory back to it's original name. Successfully restarted Q (now on the good directory). From the history list I selected the bad directory and got the file access error on the flt.
Using File Explorer, I went to the bad directory and moved all the flt files to a subdirectory. Oddly, this required administrative privileges to do. Suspecting this was the root cause, I checked the permissions for the problem directory. Even though the good and problem directory had the same permissions, I expanded the permissions in the problem directory and that solved the problem.
The drive containing the files is a backup drive that I move from one machine to another. I've been swapping drives between machines for years and never run into this problem. Nevertheless, I suspect this may have something to do with it.

This can happen when QU is run as administrator or is switched to admin privileges. What happens is that "admin" is listed as the file owner, preventing access to the file by non administrators. When I've had the problem on rare occasions, I had to change the file ownership to regain access on the non-admin account. You may have done that successfully with what you did already.

Mike
