QImage crashes due to 15-run exit code

Hello... After doing any kind of image editing on a TIFF file in QImage, I typically choose "Create New Images" under "Filter application" and select the option to save as a new TIFF file (if not already selected) to ensure I don't overwrite my original. But when I do that, QImage thinks for a bit and then shuts down. When I reopen the application, a message displays before the application is fully loaded, identifying that it shut down due to a 15-run exit code and asks if I want to reopen in Normal or Safe mode. The edited file is never saved. I am using QImage Version 2025.101. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

There's only one thing that can cause that: a corrupted image or an incompatible image. Where did the TIFF images come from: what software saved them? It's likely that something in the TIFF(s), most likely the header, is causing Qimage to not be able to finish the file conversion.

I am scanning original artwork using an Epson 13000XL scanner with Silverfast scanning software.

If you want to put a sample of one that has a problem on Google Drive, you can send me a link and I'll see if I see anything wrong with the TIFF formatting.

I've now had time to look at the TIFF you sent (thanks for that!).
The EXIF header is corrupted. The size of the EXIF header is 31 MB which is larger than the whole file. I'm not sure whether it is an infinite loop inside the EXIF data or some other problem but the EXIF reader that I use is able to handle the corruption but the EXIF
writer
that is used when a new copy is saved crashes. Not much I can do as it's a third party add-on and not my code... nor would I spend much time on it since it is not the fault of Qimage.
The software used to save that TIFF is listed as "paint.net 5.0.13". Not quite sure what that is but I would venture a guess that it's a bug in that software since that is what saved the TIFF. Maybe just avoid that tool for the final save?

Mike

Paint.net is a pretty decent free program that I use a lot. I've never saved in tiff but I think it mostly gets you huge files. I'd switch to jpeg and probably not notice the difference.
