Title: Qimage on Networked Mac
Post by: nlcanvas on July 17, 2012, 02:28:08 PM
Hi

We have an epson 9880 on the network, And i have a Mac running parallels. I can't get to instal the windows printer driver on the windows side of things where qimage is. Are there and instructions on how to do this or  any one who has done it with a network printer?

Thanks

The best way to use QI on a MAC  is to set up a PC as a print server. You don't need huge specs, any cheap model will do, and if you install a large hard disc you can keep your print files and the QI log files in one place, making them easy to back up. You don't need a high spec monitor, any old one will be OK, and you release your Macs for the interesting stuff  :)

I use VirtualBox instead of Parallels, with Win 7 as the virtual machine running QImage. The printer is running on an Ubuntu box on the network. Within the virtual machine, the printer driver was installed as normal and printer addressed as \\network_address\printer_name.

Works well.
