Title: Qimage Setup and HP Z6100 Profiles
Post by: philm on July 30, 2012, 12:50:37 PM
Hi everyone

I know the HPZ6100 are pretty popular printers and I'm hoping there are some owners here who use one with Qimage Ultimate and may be able to offer some advice.

I have just bought a HP Z6100 with a built in Spectrophotometer. I have just gone through the menus, printed the test chart etc and then printed a test image direct from Photoshop. I am really impressed with the accuracy of the colours.

Now, I am not sure what I need to do with the settings in Qimage and the printer settings.

Is it possible to get an ICC profile file from the HPZ6100 profiling 'process' which can be used with Qimage or do I now need to select 'Let Printer Manage Colour'.

I'm not sure at this moment how I switch from one profile to another with the HPZ6100 (once I have created more), but I guess that's something else to figure out as well :)

If it is the latter option and I then really use Qimage for nesting images on the paper and take advantage of some of its other features will this wtill work the same as it does with my Epson's (9880 and 7800).

I really like the look of this printer so far, but really do hate learning the different settings/features etc lol

Many thanks in advance for any help/advice

Phil

Hi Phil,
I know nothing about your printer but from a quick Google, thsi may help, follow the links too.

If the Z6100  produces a "proper" ICC profile you should be able to access it and copy to the Windows profile folder for Qimage to use.

Thanks very much for taking the time to have a look at this and to reply with what you found Terry, I appreciate that a lot :)

I have found more info and it does look like it creates a 'normal' icc file so I will have more time for testing it tomorrow and will see if I can take that and use it for Qimage like you say

Thanks again!

Phil

All profiles made by Z6100 is stored on your computer.
You can select the profile just like how you do it as usual.
Go to printer setup and set the size, quality and paper type in your driver.
Easy to do it with Qimage.
