It's hard to tell what is happening here for several reasons. I don't really see a line: only some darker dots. It's probably because the image is compressed a lot for the forum. But the real question here is this. In your first post, you show an image that has a large white border on the top and bottom of the image: you can see that the crop marks mark corners that include a large white border. So it looks like the image itself has a white border. Or did you add a photo mat on the top and bottom only? Then in the second post, you say that's the "image itself". That one does NOT include the white border. So you're going to have to explain where the white borders are coming from because that little line of dots pointed to by your arrow is in that white area... but we don't know where the white area is coming from unless you tell us.

The white area is there from the crop as the image is too tight to create an 8x10 so the best I can do is make the image smaller to fit all the people in then that leaves all that white space around the image which is ok but then this line shows on screen in qimage?

So you made the image smaller? How? That white space is not from a Qimage crop because Qimage won't crop that way. So you did what: you went into a photo editor and you added white space?
I'm asking all these questions because the bottom line is that Qimage printed that black line because that black line is in the image. I suspect that you added white space top/bottom to that image and when you did that, you put that black line in the image: it is part of the white space you added. Qimage won't print it if it's not there.

I cropped it in Affinity Photo and see image I attached earlier it added space all around the checker board type stuff then I opened it up in qimage and the line appeared. Perhaps its this checker board thing that causes it? When I select 8x10 all I get is 5.69x10. I did not add any space or border of any kind.

Ok the issue is the jpg, I took the image and exported it as a png and loaded it into qimage and no line. So the jpg out of Affinity photo with that checker board pattern is the issue. Is there a reason though I can't get an 8x10 regardless of the media size, I surmise the image and the aspect ratio is the problem?

If you turn crop on, you'll get an 8x10 but it'll have to be cropped. If you turn crop off, you'll get something like a 6.7 x 10. I'm guessing that you want Qimage to add white space to the image without cropping it so that it comes out to 8x10. To do that, select Template/Centered placement and turn crop off. Then choose 8x10 size with crop marks on and add your original image (without the white space added). I assume that's what you want: your 6.7 x10 but with crop marks at the 8x10 position.

I say this with love and caring for all Qimage users. But it must be pointed out. Wouldn't it benefit the people trying to help you if you would provide ALL the facts on how you created the issue? Would be nice to know that you created the image in Affinity or Lightroom so we can reproduce what you are seeing. This would be appreciated by Mike especially. Qimage has all the facilities for cropping and borders, either as an image feature, and, better for you a print feature. This means the original image is unchanges and can be used again with different crops and/or borders etc. Terry |

See attached images for an example of some I did recently.
Image (with a faded effect created with the Qimage editor, not a border) has a fine border and the a 10mm border outside that. When the print was mounted, the mount aperture was based on the size including the borders. This was to give white space between the actual image and the mount. I calculate mount aperture sizes using a spreadsheet and this method ensure I get what I want easily.
