Title: Qimage suddenly prints landscape (as if paper was horizontal)
Post by: jeffjessee on January 10, 2019, 06:52:48 PM
I have an Epson P800, mostly print on 8 1/2 by 11. Several times in the last few weeks, when I print a portrait shaped image, it prints landscape, as if the paper was horizontal, so part of the print is off the paper. This has happened when I was printing 8x10 or two 5x7's. Everything I can see on the screen says the orientation is portrait. Orientation and screen under "Properties" say it is Portrait, but the printer prints landscape (which I never have done intentionally with sheet paper. One time, I think the previous job may have been roll paper. Possibly that's a clue.

The only way i have found to solve the problem is to recall a job that printed right, and then put the appropriate images in that job. Is it possible that when just changing back to sheet paper mode, Qimage does not reset everything to "Portrait"???

Thanks,
Jeff Jessee

Jeff,

I'm having a hard time imagining what your setup looks like when you have the trouble.  Are you saying Qimage puts the print on the page in the wrong orientation automatically and part of the print is off the page?  I've never seen that happen as the auto-arranging won't allow it.  If that's what you are getting, please get it to that point and post a screen shot of the main window showing that.  I might see something in your settings.

Regards,
Mike

From time to time I have a similar problem with my HP Z3200. Totally different printer and aimed at roll printing but nevertheless;  if the physical size of the roll width is even 1 mm less than what a 44" (1118mm) or 35" (914mm) roll width should be then a landscape printing page that is set at 1118mm wide will automatically turn to portrait mode on its way to the printer. The printer measures the width when the roll is installed and the driver adds the auto turning "feature". So I keep a bit of tolerence by using print pages 1mm less. Last week however that was even not enough and a stroke of 180mm wide and 1117mm long (several color proofs) was printed at the right side in the length of the Photorag roll. Does not make you happy. Careful QU intelligent nesting of the bigger prints on the remaining sheet made it less an issue.

So check the real sheet size and what has been set in QU or driver. Totally different printer though ..........

Met vriendelijke groet, Ernst
