With a Version number like that, who can forget this additional feature that comes to you in 123.

I always feel that Mike is a little soft with his release notes...
This new feature is a humdinger (now you know how old I am. When was the last time you heard Humdinger?)

I like to deal in examples and samples. I learn better that way better than outlines and sub headings.

Suppose you had 50 nice shots of your nephew and his bride at their wedding.  (Some were so good that you couldn't even tell she was eight months along!)
Your aim is to get some 4 x 6 borderless prints made at the closest outside printing store.
You do your own tweaking, cropping and when ready, you call the new feature in 123.

Click FILE... PRINT TO... FILE.

See snap. I put my print size, and I have space to put in the resolution ... some places ask you for no less than.... or they want 300.... or they don't specify, so you just pick something sensible like 300 ppi.
I typed 200 ppi just to show you that it is your selection.

Next is the color space for the print. You can see (for the purpose of explaining), that I have my Epson premium printer profile in there. Perhaps the store I go to uses Epson Prem Glossy.
But that is not usually the case. Your store will ask you for the images in sRGB, Adobe RGB, or they will supply you free from their web site, a color space for the paper they use with their printer.

If you don't know... use either sRGB or the Adobe... Click the appropriate button.
If they do supply a printer /paper profile, it goes into the usual place in Windows from which you can select it from the last button on the right.

Mike has this feature so "cool" that you need not worry about portrait or landscape. Just click OK and add your 50 images.

Also see that Print sharpening was left on and the printer color space was left as you/I set it. 50 in the queue!

OK... we see that we chose JPGs Quality 90, Auto naming , and we can do them all in a batch (1-50) or selectively.

Click GO
Destination box opens... set to current folder.  Say OK

Qimage is making a special sub folder to hold those 50 new print files  called QPRINTS!!

Snap 009 simply says, "Hey man; I'm done!  Wanna go and see what I look like?"

From here you can:
a) Copy to a Flash Drive.
b) Upload to an on line service.
c) Burn to a DVD
d) You could have plugged in your Flash Drive and Print to the Flash Drive as your destination MY Flash Drive is shown as LEXAR in the selection Box.

Think about it!   You can put captions on each shot with Floating Text before you click print!   Or Click the INFO box and a sliver of information with file name will print too. Add Text annotation in the Page editor...
So many ways to work.

To return to you Print to Printer state, either do FILE PRINT TO (printer) or you can click on the Printer set up button and click the button top right that says return to Printer mode...

Sometimes, it saddens me to see how unappreciated the stuff Mike adds is treated.
Like DFS! Perhaps one of the most important improvements in digital imaging in years.
Like TTS, again, sort of complex and under appreciated because it needs some explanation.

Maybe it's not everyone's fault, but just a little show and tell is needed.
 
This time I thought I would try to get this bird to fly!
So many asked for this feature who generally don't print their own, or who send out to have large prints made..  and it could easily fall between the cracks too.

So I thouhght I'd try!

I've been away for a few days so only got to use version 123 last night.
I had to provide an image to fit a brochure, in English units, 5.25" x 4.2" (5:4 ratio) at 300ppi. The new UI made the task very easy and helpfully created a new folder for the image. I was able to include a double border too.
I particularly like having a read-out of the final image pixel size. This will be useful when I prepare images for projection where it's best to have the whole image match the projector resolution, say 1920 x 1080 pixels. The image to be projected can then be made to fit within that format when its aspect ratio is different or portrait. Borders can be added to outline the image on the screen.
