Title: Qimage Ultimate
Post by: Sunny on October 10, 2012, 03:51:58 PM
Hi,
I am just about buying an Epson 9900 or 9890 (I wonder which suits for my purpose of canvas printing as well as BW film positive printing purpose).
1. How far Qimage Ultimate helpful for this need?
2. Will it almost sufficient for image editing and as RIP, replacing PS and RIP software?
3. How far it is perfect for RIPing color-separating CMYK to print black & white on suitable clear film?

Any users here to give me advice?

Thanks in advance...
Sunny Alan

Photoshop and RIP software do a lot of things that QImage Ultimate doesn't do. If you don't need those extra features then you don't need Photoshop or RIP software. Only you know what your needs are.

I use QImage with my Epson 7900 and have never felt the need for RIP software. Qimage handles print layout, large printing, etc. for as much as I need. I don't use QImage for raw file processing, or general photo editing. For those I use Capture One and Picture Window Pro.

I'm not aware of any QImage support for CMYK images. If that is important to you then you will need something else in addition to, or in place of, QImage.
