Title: QImage Ultimate 2014.136 does not see all my folders
Post by: artzelda on April 26, 2014, 05:47:34 PM
I have my hard drive partitioned and my photos are stored in a folder on my D drive.  QImage Ultimate does not see this folder but all the other folders on this drive are shown in QImage   Can anyone explain this?  I have attached an image showing the Picture folder missing from the QImage window.

Computers are strange beasts!
If course, if it happened here, I would do some experiments to see: Look for it at another spot in the list. Sometimes there's a tiny extra character typed into the name, and you just didn't see it; like ,Pictures. Then it gets alphabetized and comes out in a different place.

Copy that Folder to the C: partition and have a look for it.
Copy that folder to a Thumb drive, and look for it.
and I have seen this actually work::::       Create a new folder called Pictures1, See if that shows up. If so, copy the contents to it, and delete the original.
Then rename Picture1 back to Picture.
Sometimes, FOLDERS get "hosed" for no understandable reason.... but I have seen this work many time.
Certainly, worth a try.

Are you sure your Pictures folder is on your D: partition? Windows creates that folder by default and puts it on C: drive. Using Windows Explorer right click on the Pictures folder and then on Properties. It will tell you if it is a Link or a Folder. Then click on Location to confirm location.

Also, if you are looking for "My Pictures", look in c:\users\<your-windows-username>\My Pictures".  Otherwise Ron has the right idea: it's probably a virtual link so you need to find the actual path.

Let me answer in the order received.

Yes the "pictures' folder is an actual folder and not a link.

However, going to windows explorer and right clicking on properties I noticed that for some reason Windows made this a 'hidden' folder, (for reasons I do not understand).  Once I unchecked the 'hidden' box to reveal this folder it suddenly appeared in the QImage window.  Who would have  ::)'thunk' ::) this was the problem.    Thanks for making me look at the properties for this folder.  I never would have found it otherwise.
