The image is always cropped to fit whatever paper I select. I'm certain it's an easy set up, if I knew how.
Yes it is easy.
Select the Prints tab that list the saved print sizes; below the list is a scissors icon. This puts the crop on or off. Click this to remove the crop.
See attached screen shot where I have an old 2-1/4" square image scanned from a negative.
The mouse arrow is on the crop scissors and the yellow outline shows the rectangular size selected.
The other option is the use Custom size and specify square size.
