I just tried Firefox and downoaded 4 of the videos.
It took 5 seconds all the way to 11 seconds for the big one.
I set the quality to 720 HD (the highest offered)
Not bad...
WMV file is better, but not too bad in MP4

One thing you lose when you download them are the captions and links that pop up in the YouTube videos.  I was hoping those would get encoded into the download even if you couldn't click the links but they don't even appear.

I've downloaded https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-downl-10137/

I not only closed Firefox and re-opened it, but shut down the computer.  In each case I couldn't figure out how it worked.

Any help will be welcome.

Hi,
See attached screen shot (click to enlarge).
This is what you see but only on the "normal" YouTube screen. To get there, go to the YT home page and search using "Qimage" and you should see all the video thumbnails.
Click on the one you want to obtain the "normal" view with an extra box below that says "Download as".
Click that and you then see the resolution options to download; click 720p for best quality.

I did three downloads and tested them to make sure.

Why can't we get videos that just work from QI instead of cluttering our computers with unwanted software.  Even Mike admits that there is a loss with the workarounds.

I'd think that after paying for QI-U, it would be better -- I doubt I'll being paying update fees.  Other software vendors can get videos that work out of the box (Lightroom, etc.).  Why not QI-U.

I'm becoming sorry that I paid the upgrade price.  So far, I see no advantage of QI-U over QI-S.   All I see with the updates are bug fixes, raw stuff, and image editing which I don't, and will never use.  Bug fixes should not require an update fee ever.

The main QI advantage has always been layout.  That seems to have been forgotten.  I'd like to see some real improvements in the layout section of QI.  QI isn't going take it in the RAW conversion, image editing, or DAM world.  I've used QI since 2001, and I am truly sorry to see where it is going.

First, the YouTube download add-ons for FireFox are a just a few KB.
Secondly, the YouTube videos are inherently lower quality that the "original as-made", they have to be downsized for YT to the720p format.
If you were to have the original full quality videos within Qimage Ultimate, you'd have a folder of videos that was more than 1GB.  Shocked
YouTube seems a reasonable way for many users to have access to them, especially now 720p HD is possible.

Hi Wil,
Qimage Ultimate has so many wonderful features like Tone Targeted Sharpening, and the simplest to use and best RAW Refine algorithm to date, just to name a couple.
If you chose not to use them or even try them, that's your prerogative, but you are short changing yourself!

Reminds me of the man I knew that grumbled about the car he recently bought.
1) He said he was sorry he bought it because the speedometer went to 100 mph, and he would never go that fast.
2) It had 225 hp, and he would never use that either, and the best complaint was that it had 'power windows' ; just another thing to go wrong!

Cheer up Wil. With the print quality that Qimage turns out, you still have the best bargain on the planet.

The QU site is brimming with info on how it differs from the retired Lite, Pro, and Studio Editions.  The info is right up front on the main web page, plus there is a demo that lets you try all the features.  So why would you buy QU if you say you'll "never use any" of the features listed?  You'd never use the new color management engine that delivers more accurate color on both monitor or printer, and supports more ICC profile formats?  I doubt that!

And on the video complaint, you are just proof that if I gave a thousand people 1 million dollars each, at least ONE person would complain about the gift and come up with something like "I don't like the new $100 bills.  Couldn't you supply the old non-holographic bills?".   Grin  The videos were not even available when you bought QU and now you are complaining about a gift available to you for free?  First of all, VERY few companies even offer training videos without you paying a fortune for them.  Second, many of the companies who do offer videos use YouTube for this and have YouTube "channels" like I do.  YouTube offers some things you can't offer in a DVD or built-in video gallery such as popup notes and the ability to link to other videos inline while you talk about them.  You don't need to download these videos (and I don't recommend it because you lose the aforementioned features) unless you are on an archaic internet connection.
