Title: QImage Ultimate LifeTime and Canon R5 and Canon Pro-1000 Post by: Lorenz on November 21, 2023, 09:22:52 PM Hi,
I am considereing buying the Canon Pro-1000 and QImage Ultimate LifeTime (QI). I want to use QI to schedule a 'nozzle print' regularly (e.g. when I am away) to prevent clogging and of course use the other options in QI. But owning a Canon R5 shooting C-RAW, QI might not be the right choice, because I read on this forum that this isn't compatible with QI. I would hate another step in my workflow by having to save my CR3 files to TIFF. And I would not be happy with the extra diskspace involved with that. And for that same matter and others I would not like to have to shoot RAW instead of C-RAW. Is there any progress in hacking C-RAW? Is there a QI "schedule only" version? Is there a way to print the QI 'nozzle pattern' to a printer in the network via a (scheduled) batch command? (I remember from the old days: copy myfile.txt lpt1:) Thanks Title: Re: QImage Ultimate LifeTime and Canon R5 and Canon Pro-1000 Post by: admin on November 21, 2023, 11:50:15 PM Qimage uses LibRaw so any questions about whether or not specific models can be "hacked" should be directed to LibRaw:
https://www.libraw.org/ LibRaw supports many hundreds of camera models but on models where manufacturers (like Canon) invent new formats and don't publish specs, a lot of times you'll find that only the uncompressed raws will be supported. At that point it's a tradeoff: if you want the convenience of compatibility you might have to sacrifice some disk space in order to do that. As for the purge sheets/unclog, that's part of Qimage so there aren't any utilities that do only that or specialize in sending to printers via command line. Honestly, I wouldn't buy Qimage just for the unclog tool because you'll be losing so much in the printing department: you should be using Qimage to print every print you send to a printer. If you aren't, you are getting inferior prints. Period! Thanks I have a Canon R6 and i shoot in C-RAW ,and i can say ,since mike has updated QI with the latest LibRaw-libary ,Qi has no problems with C-Raw files from R5/R6. |
