I have been using qimage for many years. I use it for all of my printing. I would assume that many other like myself use photoshop to edit and send to qimage for printing ignoring the raw editing abilities of qimage.

Now that the backlash has started over Adobe's subscription model, people are looking for an alternative. Hopefully Mike you can somehow use this window of opportunity to your benefit. As for me, I will again try to work out a workflow that was so elegant with lightroom and photoshop working together.

If you read the latest, you see that Adobe is pushing its non professional customers toward Lightroom.

It's not so much which program they push for which group. It's the audacity of a company telling you that you may no longer own what you paid for.
 
Suppose the UK government or the US government told you that from Jan. 1, 2014 on..... no one can buy a house; RENTALS ONLY!
With monthly or yearly rental leases.
Which infers that your monthly payments can be altered at the end of the lease period.

Think about it.

If the public accepts this policy and doesn't fight back (Boycott the bastards), then what's next?
You will only be able to RENT Windows 9. We will be forced to RENT W9.
Easy to do. Microsoft sends an update as they seem to do every week or so, and the update file adds an expiration to your W7.
Now, Rent W9 or find a copy of XP.

Now I will be so brazen as to suggest that you buy and tell your friends to buy a Qimage Ultimate. Take the time to learn it.
People I know go to Photo Shop seminars at their expense all the time.
Take the time to learn QU; ask for a video on something that's confusing... all free!

Here's another interesting observation.
Someone wrote to me giving me a Nah, Nah, na na Nah!  Potato Shop has a Clarifier. Where's yours?

So I asked Mike!
He went into PS and saw what it did, and laughed.
"Here you want a clarifier; here's your Clarifier", and he showed me what to do for a clarifier.
IN USM or better yet DFS in Qimage Ultimate, make your settings Radius of about 8 and a strength of about 80...  Of course these numbers are not absolute, and the SLIDER varies these in Photo Shop.
So you change to a 10 and a 50 or a 6 and a 90, and you find your clarifier setting for your image.
Then he had me save a little file with DFS settings of 6 and 80 and name it Clarifier. So for less informed users, people can click on Predefined filter, and select Clarifier...

My point is there's not that much mystique to Adobe's controls. I have found over many years with Mike, that asking for something you need, will not fall on deaf ears.

I stopped using PSCS a long time ago, QU and it's predecessors were all I needed to do anything regarding
image quality or colour etc and did it so much better.

I do not even have PSCS installed anymore.

Kudos to you for realizing what QU can do and do it actually better.

I must tell you.... I have a good friend, a professional photographer, with whom I go shooting pictures about once a week.
Besides that, we have lunch together twice a week, so you can see we get along fine.
After a morning shooting we each have 100+ shots, we stop to eat, and home we go.
I usually need a little nap, and then I dump my card to the computer using QU.

My hundred shots are already processed... I go though the thumbs *hoping* I find one that need tweaking.  Maybe I can play with 10.
By 4:00 PM I email my first 10 shots to Larry.

Larry has an L R tattooed on his forehead. He thinks he has to work on each image... (His words: work on each image)
He is working Light Room!!
No joking!  Three days later, just before meeting for lunch with some of the other guys in the group, I have to ask him if his camera broke/
Where's some shots?  Are you going to bring some to lunch?

When I do get to see them, they are so over worked,,,, over contrasty, over saturated, and garish  looking that I just barely can find one that I can appreciate.
Colors are wrong!

I have sat at his computer and opened in QU and his jaw dropped... but when left alone, he seems to feel that he has to WORK images in order to justify selling them for money!

Most of the images in our club competitions are not in fact photographs, they are PhotoShop creations, probably based on an image taken on a camera but extensively photoshoped     There is always some outstanding images but they are not true photographs.

I do not do 'creations' mainly because I can not do them, I am not artistic in that way,  but these creations win competitions.

Our club chairman is still in the days of medium format film, very good stuff but not many winners.

For our club photography PS is essential except for miserable sods like me who refuse to conform.  I stick with Qultimate. and use Elements to remove the occasional telegraph pole and do a bit of dodge and burn if really necessary.

I am interested to see what happens with the photoshoppers. It will be a few years before CS6 or whatever becomes unusable, probably as a result of MS going windows subscription only.

I believe UK Sage accounting software is now subscription only, and that it has transformed their cash flow!!!
