Title: Rendering intent
Post by: pil91 on September 29, 2024, 07:08:52 PM
Hi Mike.

I know about rendering intent, (at least I hope  ;).
But I'm  very curious to know how your auto option works to choose between perceptual and relative ?

Thank you for your reply

Well the algorithm is proprietary of course but to put it simply, it looks at the image and examines how much of the image is out of gamut on your printer and whether or not those parts are in important areas of the image.  If enough of the image is out of gamut, it switches to perceptual.  Otherwise it uses relative colorimetric.

Regards,
Mike

Yeah, it's a simple, pragmatic and efficient approach.
In fact, that's what's missing in PS and LR soft-proofing: we know it's out of gamut, but we don't know by how much.

Thank you for your soft !
