Anyone know how to keep Adobe Bridge from opening when I select external editor in QU? Bridge is not picking up the QU adjustments. All I want is to have CS5 open up the image that I send to it from QU...

Okay I figured out that it is because I am sending it a raw file. So, if I convert it to .tff it can open directly in CS5. So the question is, do I need to convert all my raw images to .tiff before I can adjust in CS5? If so, how should I do it and keep the ability to use QU to process raw files?

I think you have to convert to tiff first otherwise it is the raw file that opens.  That is what I have found and it is Logic really.

Only one raw processing software can be used on the raw data, so yes if you want to utilize QU to process the raw files then you will have to create tiffs or jpegs to be sent to CS5.
Changes that are made by QU are stored in sidecar files and the raw processing engine (Adobe Camera Raw) used by PS CS5 is not able to read/decipher that info.

Jeff,
There are two items that need mentioning regarding smooth combining of apps.
Many may not know that you can right mouse click on a thumbnail in Qimage and click on Send to Photo Editor.
If you go to Utilities menu at the top of Qimage, you can set the Photo editor (.exe) file that you want Qimage to use.
Something like:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Photoshop.exe  will make CS5 open the thumbs you select.

The result is a call to CS5 when you invoke the Send to Photo Editor, and it will automatically send to ACR if the thumb is from a raw, or the other side of CS5, that is for Tif and Jpg.
Whatever you do in your photo editor program can be saved as....... and when you close the external photo editor, the Save as image (s) appear in the thumbs and the images are there.

Yes this is correct, but you now have a tiff, jpeg file that has been processed by ACR/PS CS5 not by QU.

You are right, but I thought that was the question: what is the easy way to interface one program with another.
For me, I use Qimage U exclusively. I have no need for a tiff or a jpg. I print from my raw file. If I crop, I use the Qimage print crop feature, or the Image Editor and make a crop filter over the image.

I recognize that others like to apply certain tweaks that are found only in certain software packages, but my stuff is taking good pictures, and making the best developed image, and printing it.

Yes that is how I have Qimage set up.

But I only send photos to external ( Elements 4 & 7) when I have to do adjustments to say portraits and/or completely remove items like telegraph poles.
