Post by: mike397x on November 15, 2017, 11:57:19 PM
Dear Sir,
Got the above ,when I attempted to download to the latest version.
I did manage to get it downloaded, though.
Let me know, if I need to delete it-OK?

What warning?
What did it say? When did it appear?

It could be your anti virus software, or browser, or Windows. I'm always getting these warnings, especially by the latest version of AVG, regularly. Just carry on, although I think the Windows warning has a non-obvious get out, "more options" I think you click.
Some of this stuff is for people who don't know what they are doing on a PC!  ::)

I am having trouble with Avast. Just catching up after it knocked out Chrome a couple of days ago.

Interesting, Malwarebytes has been quarantining a file in the Chrome User Data as if it's a PUP (potentially unwanted program).
No-one seems to know what's going on, it's seems like a false positive.

I appear? to have cleared out the problem.

Did a restore back to Nov. 4th.  Uninstalled Chrome, Uninstalled Avast, down loaded them and reinstalled.

It affected Chrome - unable to load, FireFox, Opera and Vivaldy all required Avast to be disabled.
Emails - PopTray, Pegasus and Foxmail all had problems.

Chrome thankfully kept all settings intact - bookmarks, password etc.

OK-well,anyway,,I got the update installed.
When I did run a malware scan. They found 47 infections from something called "PUP",so,probably came from Qimage,-who knows?

PUP means Potentially Unwanted Program. It's unlikely to be QU and if the malware scan put items into quarantine, QU would prossibly not run. Did you look at the Quarantine section in Malwarebytes? It tells you there what it's found.
If you had 47 items, it sounds like you've not got a scan scheduled and they have accumulated over a period of time - unless you been looking at a lot bad websites recently  :o

Thanks Terry...my home set up is on a network where 4 other people use my computer, and a laptop my wife uses.
I'm pretty careful on what websites I go to,& normally,I do an update -then a scan once a week
I do the same with AVG.
