Hi this is my first post so if I ask a really dumb question please be gentle. Huh?

My problem is I have been trying to set up and save a couple if templates with my name at the bottom left to print either 8X10 Landscape or 8X10 Portrait on an 8.5X11 Photo paper page.  I want to save these and be able to recall the blank with text page when I want to print a photo.  I've been able to set up a template with what I want on it and print one photo which is what I wanted but when I change to the other page orientation and start to print the photo I've selected I get a blank page then the print I wanted.  What am I doing wrong?  Can you not save the blank template with just text on it and recall that blank template?

OK, I think I figured out that I need to save everything I needed as a job and it works!  Embarrassed If anyone has a better process for what I need to do please let me know.

Well that didn't work so its back to square one.

Whar i want to do seems simple enough.  I want to set up a blank place holder for 8X10 photos with the place holder containing my name in the lower left corner of a printed photo page.  Is this impossible to do with QImage Ultimate??

Hi Larry,
I suspect you are not saving and/or recalling you template correctly.
Steps:
Add 10x8 template (at bottom of all thumbnails). This a red hatched template "image".
Add your text in the Page Editor and from the main screen, Save As a Layout with a suitable name.
To use your layout template, from to Prints tab, scroll to the bottom and choose Custom, see 1st screen shot below.
Choose LAYOUT Predefined page set and browse to your saved Layout and Open.
See 2nd screen shot below
DRAG your image onto the template, see 3rd screen shot.

There is a Signature feature in QU which is probably more complicated to set up but can be useful too. See the Legacy Help for this.

Thanks for the Reply, Terry,

I was able to set up the layout right twice but when I printed a photo my printer would spit out a blank page then print the photo without the name in the right location.  I never really have figured out what was going on until this morning.  The print preview would show Page 2/2 and the selected paper size and the DPI at the top of the preview and the print queue would show the photo link and the template link.  Now I can go to custom in the prints tab and select Layouts then the custom template and then drag over my photo and everything works as I want it to.  I think what I might have been doing was loading the photo first then loading the template which would then show up as two pages in the queue since the template is in essence a "photo".  Does this sound reasonable?

I looked at the signature feature and decided it was a bit more complicated than I wanted to deal with, maybe somewhere down the line I'll give it a shot when I get more familiar with QU.

Thanks for the help

Hi,
Glad you have worked it out.
You have to drag the image to the template because the template rectangle behaves like an image so adding another by clicking will make it go to the next page in your case.

Templates are a great feature when you need to to repeat a layout with different images.
You can, of course, make a template layout of multiple pages with different sizes on each page.
Also if you want several prints of different images with one particular template layout you can do this by first setting the thumbnails of the images and then recalling the template layout.
In your example for say, for 3 different selected images, the 3 pages would be generated as soon as you recall the layout.
Have a play  Wink
