Transfer to new computer
«

Am running QImage_Ultimate V2020.109. I plan to completely rebuild my computer with new motherboard, drives, etc. Can/should I deactivate (and how) before transfering. What is the best procedure to carry over (if possible) my settings, prfeefrences, etc. - or must I start from scratch. I don't want any problems with reregistration. Thanks!

When installing on a new computer, just refer to the most recent registration/download email that you received. Follow the instructions in that email to download the most recent version and install on the new computer using those instructions. Once installed, you can also transfer your old setups and saved jobs. Use "Utilities", "Migrate/Copy Qimage Application Data" from the menu. Using that option, you can copy all the saved information from one location to another (to a temporary disk and then to the new computer, through the network to the new computer, etc.). If you'd like to do the data move operation manually, you can use "Utilities", "Explore Qimage Application Data" and that will take you to the location of the Qimage data files. Simply copy all files/folders from that location to the same location on the new computer and you're ready to go.

Mike

I did a manual move of all files as described above to a new PC.
On the new PC when I went to File > Print/Schedule Unclog Jobs I had to create my "first unclog job."
Is that normal or did I do something wrong in copying files to the new install?

The unclog jobs would be in the "Save" folder in the Qimage application data location. If that folder got copied, the only reason unclog jobs would be unavailable is if the printer name is different on the new computer. That happens sometimes. For example, maybe the printer was called "Canon Pro-100 Series" on the old computer and on the new one it is named "Canon Pro-100 Series on USB1". At that point, Qimage considers it a different printer due to the name change. The solution is to make sure the printer names match (old to new).

Yes, that appears to be the case. Thank you, Mike!
