Now downloading Ultimate v122 and find it includes a link to a free copy of PP

This must be the best BOGOF deal of the year.

I will install PP and see what I can make of it, no working scanner at present but I will get PP whilst the going is good as we say.

Thanks

Jeff

Good move, Jeff.

You can get away with an inexpensive scanner. I bought a Canon and I think the settings for PP are documented with the software. It was well under 100 UKP and I guess you can save even more money buying once used.

I find the process simple to follow and it opens up the opportunity to try new papers. I'm trying a couple of new ones this week.

I have an old scanner XP vintage no drivers for Vista and after.  Will consider a VueScan driver when I have got the target and the time to fiddle about.

try to avoid scanners with a fluorescent light source - these can cause trouble with UV output causing optical brighteners in some papers to emit additional blue light. I bought a cheap LED light source scanner to get round that problem when I used to use Profile Prism.
