v2010.111 just release has the ability to sharpen one area while softening others (or vice versa).  Works nicely on images like the one Jeff posted.  You can easily smooth out the face WHILE sharpening eyelashes, hair, etc.  Best thing is: you still do it with just one click.  See the v2010.110 issues/comments thread at the top for details.
