v2010.114     08/31/10

Priority: Low

v2010.114 offers the option to manually control when the Print Properties dialog opens/closes.  Click the blue question mark on the Print Properties dialog for details.

Yep - that did it - thanks - and I like the option too (now if you could just keep it from covering the preview page . . .)  Wink

Mike,

Am just getting started with QI-U, though a long time supporter of your QI, PP, etc and noticed that I can't see the raws from an older Canon d30 using the .crw file type. Is there any way you could enable this file type in QI-U as the images appear blue the program? Images from a Canon XSi using the .cr2 file type appear fine in the program (.113 ver).

Thank you.

Thanks Mike,

After taking some time to get used to the "new" Print Properties dialog of QU (I think I moaned about it!), I now prefer it to appear automatically and wont be turning it to manual!

While I tested the manual option, it seemed to require a bit much shake. I guess it's a function of mouse sensitivity?

CRW is already supported as is the D30.  I have some D30 files here that work fine.  You may want to check those files to make sure they aren't some other file extension.

Mike,

Thank you for getting back to me on the Canon d30 .crw raw file problem.

The files open fine in Lightroom and Photoshop but why not in QI-U? My raw files .CR2 open fine. I've tried changing the monitor settings, changing .crw to cr2 and still the images are blue. Suggestions?

Thank you.

Suggestions?

Walter,
I don't know if this will work, but I had a D 30 and now my wife uses a D 60. Both of those made their own thumbnail images mainly so the camera could show the shot in the viewer, and they do get downloaded with the image itself.

This will take you a minute to try.
Go into that folder and delete a couple of the thumbs. I think they were .thb or .tmb, and let Qimage make its own.
I may be far off base here, and maybe Qimage ignored those camera thumb files and built its own, but it's worth a look.

Walt, if you hover the mouse, over a blue thumb image and tap the spacebar, what does the screen image look like?
What does it look like in the Image Editor; blue or normal.
What does the image look like in the upper right preview panel of the main screen?

Fred,

Thank you for your helpful suggestions.

Tried everything you suggested, including deleting the thumbnail, and the result was the same - a blue image. It was noticed that when looking  at the full screen image with details displayed on the right, the RGB numbers suggested a blue cast. When I tried evening the nos., nothing looked different.

The good news is that the d30 images look fine in LR and PS. It would be nice to get QI-U to work since I just upgraded from QI Studio for what seems fairly big bucks.

Suggestions welcome.

Walter,
Three things and then I will not insist on anything anymore.
Since I have D 30 images, and no problems running in Ultimate, I ask that you indulge me one more day.
1) Please turn off the monitor profile, in Qimage.  Lower right area of Qimage's main screen, top blue ball next to Monitor Icc, click, and  remove the checkmark after selecting the Monitor tab.
Try it now! Then Rebuild thumbs using VIEW REBUILD THUMBS.

2) Please, pretty please, send me the D30 Raw image that is showing blue.   Email to wathree.ssz@verizon.net

3) How does the print look?

I know Qimage a long time, and it works.... if it doesn't it will be fixed tomorrow. You did not buy a mistake.

Fred has already given you the things that I'd try.  I'd only add to please send me the CRW file as well: mchaney@ddisoftware.com

I have D30 CRW's also and they're all working fine in both Qimage Studio and Qimage Ultimate, so I'd like to see a blue one.  If I can see it, I can figure out what is causing it.  And if I don't see it, I'll know that there is a setting fouled up in your Qimage installation.

BTW, please reply in the 116 thread and not here.  No sense double posting and having to reply to multiple threads.

Regards,
Mike

Mike and Fred,

Thank you for your help.

I am basicly satisfied that I can get around the blue raw thumbnails by doing a fresh white balance and playing around with other settings. I had tried redoing the white balance when I saw the blue cast in the RGB number listings but had not done the new white balance adjustment correctly until now.

The problem may be that QI-U has difficulty dealing with a raw taken by a camera set for custom white balance and the user does not utilize this function ( shoot the white card ) but still shoots pictures in this situation. It is interesting that other programs like LR 3.2 and PSCS3 does not have a problem with this situation.

So this may not have been a wild goose chase for a raw program developer.
