v2010.116     09/01/10

Priority: Low

v2010.116 fixes an occasional "abstract error" and an error when moving/sizing the full page editor.

Mike,

Can you make any suggestions to help correct the blue color issue with the d30?

I really would like to use the d30 with QI-U, as it's my travel camera and need to justify my purchase of QI-U for raw work when I had PSCS5, LR3 and QI Studio that work just fine with the d30 and same images.

A number of people have made suggestions, but none have worked. I did notice that not suprisingly when the thumbnail was brought to full size with the info screen on the left, the screen at the bottom showed a big blue cast in the RGB numbers.

Please be patient and help me thru this problem til I get it working so I can get my money's worth and get to try out QI-U.

Thank you.

Walter

Thank you for your helpful suggestions.
Walter,
Three things and then I will not insist on anything anymore.
Since I have D 30 images, and no problems running in Ultimate, I ask that you indulge me one more day.
1) Please turn off the monitor profile, in Qimage.  Lower right area of Qimage's main screen, top blue ball next to Monitor Icc, click, and  remove the checkmark after selecting the Monitor tab.
Try it now! Then Rebuild thumbs using VIEW REBUILD THUMBS.

2) Please, pretty please, send me the D30 Raw image that is showing blue.   Email to wathree.ssz@verizon.net

3) How does the print look?

I know Qimage a long time, and it works.... if it doesn't it will be fixed tomorrow. You did not buy a mistake.

Fred has already given you the things that I'd try.  I'd only add to please send me the CRW file as well: mchaney@ddisoftware.com

I have D30 CRW's also and they're all working fine in both Qimage Studio and Qimage Ultimate, so I'd like to see a blue one.  If I can see it, I can figure out what is causing it.  And if I don't see it, I'll know that there is a setting fouled up in your Qimage installation.

BTW, please reply in this thread.  No sense double posting and having to reply to multiple threads.

Regards,
Mike

Walter,

Fred forwarded the CRW that you sent him and I looked at it.  The blue cast you are getting is caused by the white balance.  According to the CRW file, that blue is the WB that the camera recorded.  Qimage is set up to use the camera's WB by default.  FWIW, Paint Shop Pro shows the exact same color cast as will any tool that uses the standard dcraw tool set with "as shot" WB selected.  I do notice that you are on firmware 1.02.  The latest is 1.03.  Not sure if that is a factor or not but you might want to update.  Also, was that CRW straight from the camera?  Modified CRW's that have been through other software will not work.

P.S.  One click with the WB tool in refine (click on the sand or the driftwood) will fix it.

Regards,
Mike

Walter,
As you can see my the sample image, I sent back to you,  made from your blue image, there was just a white balance click on the sand area, and 3 clicks of Fill, and the shot is really nice. Then I gave it a touch of TTS, Tone Targeted Sharpening, just for fun, and I made a print!!
With your permission, I could post a copy of the fixed image and the blue for others to see.
Your choice.

Mike and Fred,

Thank you for your help fixing this problem. Sometimes we're spoiled expecting no hassle raw thumbnails.

Mike, the raw files were straight from the camera. Knowing there is a d30 firmware upgrade available is appreciated. Sorry about the double posting; one was meant for you and the other for  Fred. It took me awhile to realize you were working together.

Fred, you are welcome to post the blue image and fix. Your tips were helpful, too.

Be happy to...
Of course, the images on here have somewhat degraded quality due to trying to keep the file size under 128K
Nevertheless, you can see what 3 minutes in Qimage can do.... and I am very old and slow.
