v2011.123    03/30/11

Priority: Low

v2011.123 supports the MPO file format for 3D photo viewing/printing including 3D compatible print cropping!  A few minor bug fixes are also included.  See the 3D Photos video for details on new 3D features.

Thanks Mike, and I didn't even have to ask! How did you know that I also have a Fuji 3d camera? But you know, this just invites requests for 3D features :)

One can only hope!   ;D  I wasn't sure how popular the feature would be, but we'll see.

Love your update for .MPO files. It works great & your idea to crop to the center for printing really works. I've been printing stereos from my new Fuji 3D camera for several days and have been experimenting with different print sizes. Have found that 5" prints work best for my antique (as in c1900) viewer. 6" prints really "Pop" with my modern Loreo viewer. I'll try to attach the left view of a stereo pair that I took at an Adobe workshop in Orlando on Friday. Ultimate really is-thanks again for your work.

Hmm.  I thought I censored that word!  Better check the censored words database.   ;D

Thanks Fred.  I'm sure the 3D (I've heard "old timers" like to call it stereo) feature set will improve further.  I've just gotten into the 3D photo business recently myself so I've been cramming knowledge as fast as possible to make good features in QU.  What's there is a decent start but I'm sure I'll get some help with the rest in the future.  ;)

Mike, if you are into 3d photography, you will probably  want to add several features to Qimage. Here are a few I would suggest.

1. Allow adjusting each image separately.
   a. a separate filter for each image, as often the left and right images are not exposed exactly the same in 3d cameras.
   b. ability to separately adjust the pictures horizontally and vertically. Many cameras are off by several pixels vertically between the left right views, which causes some eyestrain when viewing. Adjusting one view horizontally with respect to the other allows you to adjust the "stereo window", which can much improve the 3d effect. (If you aren't familiar yet with the "stereo window", I will send you some references and examples.)

2. Option to Print output as red-cyan images. This is not good for accurate color, but is the cheapest way to create large 3D images that can be viewed with cheap glasses, if you want to give to friends.

Thanks,
Jeff Jessee
