v2011.136 06/08/11 Priority: Low v2011.136 adds an indicator on each individual thumbnail showing when the raw cache has finished building. This version also improves support for printing grayscale images w/grayscale profiles. Mike Mike, what kind of grayscale profiles? The assigned gamma 2,2 etc, dotgain etc or does it deal better with the Quadtone Rip profile application created B&W printer profiles? met vriendelijke groeten, Ernst New: Spectral plots of +250 inkjet papers: http://www.pigment-print.com/spectralplots/spectrumviz_1.htm Title: Re: v2011.136 issues/comments Post by: PH Focal-Scape on June 08, 2011, 11:34:47 PM http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage-u v2011.136 06/08/11 Priority: Low v2011.136 adds an indicator on each individual thumbnail showing when the raw cache has finished building. Thanks Mike. This is something, seeming to be small potatoes, that I really appreciate. (If you want to try it, Click View and rebuild thumbs) Not only do I never look up top to see if QU is finished making thumbs and cache, but I always forget to wait an extra couple ticks after I change a White Balance setting in refine before I hit the spacebar or a double click to go to the Editor screen, to see how it looks. It's also kind of neat to watch Qimage Ultimate releasing each thumb as the cache file is built. I love the yellow thing when it disappears. Think of it as a sign from your significant other; I have a headache; Ok Headache gone! :o ;D :-\ Fred Title: Re: v2011.136 issues/comments Post by: Cybis on June 09, 2011, 07:15:48 PM Ernst,
I was the one pointing out the issue to Mike, so I hope he doesn't mind me answering here. Basically QI had a bug with how it handled ICC convertion of grayscale images. For instance, when a QTR printer profile was applied to a grayscale image, the prints were slightly off. In my experience the shadows were slighlty too light and midtone too dark. (It took Mike a whole 16hr to fix and post a new release... :o Thanks Mike!) With the QTR profiles I made (greyscale ones, not the neutral RGB ones) I never used them in Qimage as I saw deviations too. I did P2P conversions in Photoshop then and kept the Qimage route without CM for B&W printing to the B&W driver modes of the HPs I have. I must have mentioned that ages ago. Nice if it is fixed, next time with B&W I will try it out. met vriendelijke groeten, Ernst New: Spectral plots of +250 inkjet papers: http://www.pigment-print.com/spectralplots/spectrumviz_1.htm Title: Re: v2011.136 issues/comments Post by: admin on June 10, 2011, 02:21:16 PM Yes, I got mention of a problem here and there over the years but was never able to track it down due to lack of specifics (examples and workflow). Luc was kind enough to send me 4 sample images along with a detailed workflow and with those I was able to track down the problem. Basically it wasn't handling grayscale profiles properly. Anyway, it's now finally fixed and Luc reported back that he retried his workflow with 2011.136 and the problem is gone. So you should be good to go with grayscale profiles now.
