Hi I have had a search but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I am running Q Ultimate on my old Windows XP machine and have upgraded to a new Windows 7 one (64 Bit). Will I be able to run and use QU ok? If so do I re download it to the new machine and use my old key, then install my profiles in the new profile folder. I am not great at this sort of thing but need to keep printing for my business. I would be grateful for any help and or advice.

Hi Jules,
All will work fine with W7 64 bit.
Assuming a fresh install of W7, just install your latest version of Ultimate as you normally would.
I don't think there's a any unlock necessary.

To save your profiles and jobs etc, simply copy the old folders (see screen snaps) to the new location in W7.
These are the folders that store everything. And the second snap is the path.

The other consideration would be whether you had XP 64 bit as your previous windows or not.
If it was not, and was 32 bit, and if you are retaining printer setups from before, it would be prudent to look for 64 bit drivers for W7 for your printer. You will have to resave these.

Hope some of this helps.

Thanks for your help Fred. No the prvious machine was not 64 bit so, yes I guess I will have to download a new driver for My Epson 4800. You say...just install your latest version of Ultimate as you normally would Normally I down loaded it from your site. So I just do that again do I? How then does it know that I have previously paid for it and am not a new user? Thanks for the snaps of the folders.

In order to get the download of Ultimate, you request a password either on the website or from Qimage Help.... The password arrives by email to click on a URL for the latest version..

I had to run off quickly yesterday before I could give a full answer.
When you type in your email address and submit it, you are treated to a confirmation:

Thank you: e-mail sent!  In a few moments you should receive an e-mail containing a link and password to upgrade Qimage Ultimate to the most recent version.

NOTE: This confirmation message means that our mail server just sent an e-mail to the address you specified.

When the email arrives, you have the password and teh URL for the download.

Hi Fred. Sorry not to have gotten back to you quicker but we had a bit of a party weekend what with the Queen's 60th Celebrations! Two street parties, the biggest flotilla of boats on the Thames for 350 years and a great rock concert with Stevie Wonder, McCartney, Grace Jones etc to watch  Cheesy So thanks for the help. As yet i am not ready to switch over to Windows 7 yet and am still running XP Virtually and have to wait for my son to shift everything over which is beyond me  Huh? But I will follow your instructions when there! Cheers. Jules
