Quote Sony raw support: Qimage Ultimate exclusive: camera white balance now supported for all Sony camera models! Didn't have much to do (chilly outside. Only 59 F) so I wondered what Mike meant by above. I found a Raw image from a Sony RX 10, one of the Sony Cameras listed as new in bold type. I opened it in Qimage Ultimate V136 and it was perfect. So what did he mean? I then opened the same image in another popular program that also uses DCRAW to decode the raw images.... This is what I got. Qimage corrects the White Balance for the raw images from this Sony camera. DCRAW did not. "Just fascinating", as Spock would say! Quote I remember one you wizards mentioning that there might be a move towards greater control over the initial RAW conversion and I hoped this was my rescue. I don't think auto black levels is quite what you think it is.Quote was disappointed to have to reduce the RAW fill on almost every shot. For the benefit of other readers, please note, I don't believe this is a QU problem.Tony kindly sent me one of his images where he'd reduced the auto fill level of 9 down to -10. I found that QU rendered the raw very well despite there being a spot light facing the camera. I clicked on one rectangle over the spot light area to give a blue outline which improved it even more. The histogram looked fine, good shadow detail and just a blip at the top end caused by that spot light. I found that taking the fill down to -10 made the image badly under exposed I suspect Tony's monitor is too bright. :-\ Terry Title: Re: v2014.136 issues/comments Post by: Terry-M on January 30, 2014, 11:21:13 AM Additional data, Tony's image.
See attached screen shots of histograms: 1 - QU raw refine auto fill with one rectangle clicked to blue 2 - Fill set manually to -10 showing underexposure. Terry |
