v2014.226 offers a new "Ultra NR" noise filter, much faster USM/DFS sharpening, and some minor bug fixes.
Mike
Ok, guys and gals...
This is another huge improvement in what we really had to look elsewhere to handle.
SEVERE NOISE in an image.
Mike has tossed out the old D1ISO Noise reduction filter system and replaced it with ULTRA NOISE REDUCTION.!
There's no set of steps for me to explain, or procedures to get familiar with.
You just have to find your noisiest images and "think" power levels: 1,2,3,4, &5
Shadow is #1
Medium is #2
ULTRA LOW #3
ULTRA MED #4
ULTRA HIGH #5
Besides the fact that it really works, it has the ability to do the Noise Reduction job, with a barely noticeable softening of the image which is usually a heavy price to pay for the NR.
The result is that you will rarely need to add sharpening for compensation for the Noise Reduction filter anymore.
WARNING!
The ULTRA HIGH setting should be applied only to spouses that nag with so much noise, that you cannot watch the ball game in peace!!
Enjoy!
