What we all have been waiting for!!
If one color is a bit clogged, whey did we have to shoot the moon and waste ink cleaning all the colors that were fine?
Now, you can select which color, colors, or all to unclog!!

What you just saved in ink pays for your Q Ultimate renewal for next year.

Hey Jeff,
Give 229 with color selection ability a try, and report the results.
Unbelievable results here.

The other advantage of Mike's nozzle feature is that the ink used for cleaning does not get deposited in the waste ink pads/tank in the printer, thus keeping the printer less messy internally and reducing the need to re-set or have maintenance done

Hi Guys,

Many thanks to the three mouseketeers. Mike, Fred and Terry for your support and help on this website.

Although mainly a lurker, I have benefited immensely from the many comments, tips and user advice that appears here.

Am particularly excited about the new nozzle check feature. I have a Canon Pro 100 and am paranoid about nozzle checks after having two Pro9000 print heads permanently clog a couple of years back.

One comment is that my pro 100 printer seems to bring up a dialog box more suited for the Pro9000. For example it mentions the green and red that are not used on the Pro 100, and ignores the two greys that are included in  the Pro100.

Is there a work around?

Thanks again guys for all the support work.

Hi Roy,
Been a while... don't be such a lurker... you can even post a hello!

In answer to your question, the principle is brilliant, thanks to Mike.
We don't worry about specific cartridges. We are just concerned with color.
For example, My old R 1800 did not have an orange cartridge. My replacement printer when the R 1800 died is the R 2000. That does have an orange cartridge.
The point is that the "target" image that Mike developed will clean Orange using whatever combination of colors the printer uses to make orange.
I have tried the new Unclogger a number of times as it doesn't waste any ink. It just makes a print but forces the printer to pulse the nozzles rapidly.

Use the full Unclog to cover all the bases, and if one gray is for glossy and one for Matte, just tell teh driver that you switched to glossy.
There are black bar columns that work on whatever is used to make those colors...
Try it out Roy.
It's just the same as printing any colorful print.  Wont hurt a thing.

I didn't know that you have recycle centers in the UK where you can take your wife and recycle her?
How does that work?
You drop off a 60 and pick up 3 20s?

Terry never told me anything about this!!

What you just saved in ink pays for your Q Ultimate renewal for next year.

What a coincidence.  I just recieved my notification that my year of QU has run out.  I was debating whether to renew, being reminded of the following observation:

From 1888:
"We are probably nearing the limit of all we can know about astronomy." (substitute "Qimage Ultimate" for "astronomy")
- Simon Newcomb, early American astronomer

I wondered what more could QU have to offer?  Then along comes this innovation in unclogging methodology.  Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I'm going to renew right away with the confidence that there is still more to be be "known" with respect to QU and that Mike will ferret out that which is yet to be "known".

The only thing that I would like to see is an adjustment in the RAW development procedure that would allow fine adjustment of exposure.  While there is some latitude afforded by the "zone" exposure and "fill" options, it would be really nice to be able to manually adjust exposure for those few images that just can't be developed suitably with the "point & click" method currently employed.

"The only thing that I would like to see is an adjustment in the RAW development procedure that would allow fine adjustment of exposure. "

Ditto.

I find that the automatic Fill is often to high for me on low contrast shots, particularly those at a highish ISO.

On the other hand when I shoot (a rare treat for a Londoner) in the sort of weather Mike and Fred live with my RAW conversions are pretty spot on.

I understand Mike may be doing something like a RAW fill personal option as he told me he also has clients who tend to find Fill often lower than they'd prefer.

I think it's somewhat more scientific than that and I believe is based on getting a good histogram within the 0 to 255 range.
I agree it does not always work perfectly but a few clicks, either trying different rectangles, possibly with different colour outlines and a tweak to Fill soon sorts it out.
The point here is do as I say above and learn from it so that it becomes a very fast process. The other thing is to be selective and don't initially bother with images in a large batch that you can see from the thumb are not much good.
I reckon QU has the fastest raw adjusting system of any software.

"The other thing is to be selective and don't initially bother with images in a large batch that you can see from the thumb are not much good."

That is my point, Terry.

If you see a batch that is overfilled you can  create a batch and pick the first one and pull it down by (say) two steps to get it right. If you apply that RAW adjustment to the whole batch it does not reduce each frame by two steps.

It adjusts each frame to the same Fill number. So each adjustment could be a different number of steps. Thus a 12 is reduced to 10. A 15 is reduced to 10. An 11 is reduced to 10. A 10 stays the same.

That is not what the user wants. I fully understand why that is what happens at the moment. My understanding is that Mike plans to create a tool by which one can reduce/increase the amount of Fill in each batched frame by a chosen number of steps.

I certainly don't want to change a whole batch of images by the same amount if fill, it definitely would not work for me.
My point was that refining individual images can be a very fast process. The copy facility is very useful too, but for images shot under identical conditions and exposure.

To up date

We got to the recycle center at 1pm, they took one look at her and directed her to the land fill site adding you should also go.
