Tuned up!

I have a test folder of 53 Raw images.
version 253 builds the "fast" thumbs in 9 seconds, followed by a cache build and final thumbs in 4 minutes and 5 seconds; total 4 minutes and 14 seconds.

The previous standard way builds the same 53 Raw images with thumbs taking 1 minuter and 11 seconds, and the cache build 4 minutes and 4 seconds.
Total time is 5 minutes and 15 seconds.
Version 253 saved me a full minute with only 53 raw images to build.!

It isn't important how long it took as my Raw images might be smaller than yours, and my computer slower than yours.
It is interesting to note the "difference" in time.

By the way, if you wish to time yourself, simply go to Edit Preferences, Raw Options, and put the tick dot in "Cache with Early Edit Priority"
That sets QU back to the old system.

Have fun,
Fred

In Raw Refine (Raw Photo Developing Options), program hangs (not responding) when selecting a sector to do raw refinements. 252 and before work OK, but 253 causes problems.

Please supply details to aid in trying to replicate.
Can you send the image, please?
That would be perfect.

Any RAW file I use (Fuji FinePix S9000) causes the same behavior.  I click on the little icon in the lower left corner of a raw file and bring up the Raw Photo Developing Options screen.  If I make any kind of adjustment (slider movement, sector selection and development choice, hand-drawn box and development choice) I get the hourglass, but instead of going away after a few seconds (as it does in v2014.252 and before) the hourglass stays, and I can only exit by using Task Manager.  The snap below shows the raw refine screen after I click on it a few times, showing "Not Responding" in the title bar.  Task Manager shows "Not Responding" and I have to "End Task" to exit QU.

OK, tried a number of RAF files.
Not problem at all.
No hourglass, or lock up.

Can you please send any one of your .RAF files that does lock up?
You can use any means.... or I use WETRANSFER, a free file transfer service.
Send to wathree.ssz@verizon.net

This way we have the same ingredients, and should be able to repeat the problem.
Using other images from the Fuji S9000 works just fine.

Fred

PS any chance we could see a better screen snap showing the entire grid and the controls?

also possible to get a screen snap pf the Raw Options settings and any qsn file you made.
Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh?Huh???
