v2015.112 includes the following:

  • Database archives: Add description/creator information into the database for your archived photos on CD/DVD, and search later to find which CD/DVD contain specific archived photos!

OH Boy, just what I needed for a long while.
In the past, I had to put old archived folders on DVDs, and write a DVD number on the disc.
Then somehow try to recall what was on the disk. My workaround was to never delete the folders from the hard drive, even though I deleted the images. I entered a DVD number in the Creator box next to each empty folder.

Now we have the Cat's Meow!
I copy and burn folders to the disk as before and then all I do is open FOLDERS in Q and locate the DVD drive letter and select.
You will see the letter D turn blue indicating Qimage sees removable media.
Click on the Blue C first. If you labeled your media, Qimage will copy that label into the Creator field. If not, type it in... (My G drive, or DVD 115)
Next click on the Blue D. Use the middle selection that will add all the folders on the media to the data base.
If you make a mistake, Click the D button and the lower choice will delete the data you put in for that media.

You are done.

I experimented already with some 14 year old CDs that I had used to Archive pictures. I burned 11 of these on to ONE DVD, and slipped it into the Qimage Data Base in a whoosh!
14 years ago, all I could think of doing on a CD was to write as many folder names on it as I could fit, and then that wouldn't tell me what was in  it.

This time, I slip my new DVD into the drive, let Qimage see it, Search for DVD 115, and it shows me all the folders that are on the disk   but, now I can click a folder in the search box, click Preview, and scroll the thumbs...

Pretty Slick.
Thanks, Mike

Fred
