v2016.128   Nov 13, 2015

Priority: Med

v2016.128 improves raw photo quality and adds new raw photo developing tools:

  • Fill/HDR: Improvements to both fill light and HDR result in better contrast and better separation of fill light and HDR operation.
  • Raw refine zoom tool: The zoom tool is now faster, larger, and offers 2x magnification (scroll mouse wheel up a second time).
  • Raw refine HDR assist tool: Hold the Alt key to view the effect of the current HDR setting (shows which areas are being recovered).
  • Fix: Fixed an issue with negative fill light.

Me too Jeff.
Please excuse the poor quality images, but they are screen snaps of thumbnails.
I wanted them to fit on the post

Try this for fun

First image is the original which Ultimate did a great job balancing the very bright cloud with the deep shadowed foliage.

Second image is what I normally would do..   I draw a magenta box around the very bright cloud, and add Fill and recover the lost detail with HDR

I played with the new HDR found in version 128, and lookie here.

Third image shows me wanting to unblock the dark foliage.
I raised the fill to a 9 from default 2, and pulled the new HDR to 11.
I got better results without resorting to exposure adjustments of screen image 160

This HDR is some tool. I really have to redo a lot .... (as Jeff said)

Just had to tack on one more image.
All I did here was to put a check in the SC box (Smart Color) in the refine screen, and it looks like someone turned on the lights in some of the windows.
Have fun,
Fred
