I think this is a positively great tool. I call it an ODR Tweaker

It actually lets you adjust in tiny  or large segments and it works...

It certainly does work - it's a remarkably clever feature.
The fact that you can get the right exposure without using a large fill value (it's often zero with ODR) means that contrast is better.
Note too that you can still use a magenta rectangle to recover highlights and then apply ODR with out losing the highlight recovery. The ODR Yellow (was green) rectangle can overlap the magenta one if necessary.
It does not take long to get used to where a rectangle should be placed and it only takes seconds to try different sizes and positions.
