v2017.119   Feb 11, 2017

Priority: Low

2017.119 includes the following:

  • Tape measure: A new tape measure tool in the full page editor allows two-click measurements anywhere on the printed page: useful for passport photos and other critical sizing.
  • Job log: A button is now available on the main window to open the automated job log.
  • UI improvements: Some minor fixes and improvements for various UI elements.

Hey everyone.
This is really a neat tool.
Besides what Mike said (for passport photo measurements), you will find many uses for it.

057 shows the (Where's Waldo) button for the tape Measure.
059 measures the vertical size of the flower on an 8 x 10. 4.25"
060 measures the vertical size of the flower on a 5 x7 print. 3.00"
Great for frames, cutouts, or just aesthetics.

Caveat!
Guys no selfies. It doesn't work for that.
Ladies, Please select 'Custom' for anything over 36

Have fun

So that leaves two measures.  Is it the one above the waist or below the waist?

Unfortunately, you are looking for a circumference measurement above the waist.

Mike designed this with my wife, Marilyn, in mind.

We are very senior, so the measuring she does is from chest to waist, and as the years progressed, from chest to knees.

I use that measuring tool also, but that resulted in wearing longer shorts as we live in Florida.

Hope that clears it up. Tongue

Mike, Fred, you asked me to record this in case it happens again. It has happened again. Here is link to a video:
https://1drv.ms/v/s!Av58-d0e4yF2vUc1GJ3gQyOWODT0

To recap, this issue occurs when I try to recall a previous job with all settings. AFAIK, it does not affect very recent jobs, only jobs that are older than some "event", but I just cannot determine what that "event" is (e.g. major change in printer, change in software version, etc.). In this latest case, the job I'm trying to recall is only about 3 months old and I have not changed printers or software versions.

I really hope you can nail this one Mike.

Cheers!

Brad

Brad,
I have been trying to repeat when you get. I am even trying jobs from 2010 and I get the expected error that QU cannot load driver settings of my Epson R 1800 (because the driver is not in my computer). Otherwise, all normal. Even the images from that old job appear.
I even pulled the OPEN Folders down all the way before running Auto Job, as you show.
Better wait for Mike.

I can't repeat the problem either.  Are you able to ZIP the files from that job and attach them here?  You can click Utilities, Explore Qimage Application Data, and then go to the Log folder. Look for the same file name and there should be 5 files with that name: extensions job, jp1, jpt, jss, and jst.

Regards,
Mike

Hi Brad,
I was waiting for someone else to pop on, but so far.....
OK I inserted the "job" files you posted into the correct folder on my machine.
It opened over and over perfectly. I studied your video and matched every mouse move including typing in to the search box exactly what you typed. (I did have to ask Terry what you typed. His eyes are a lot younger than mine)
I only missed the actual images from the job, but since I do have the Z3200 HP driver installed, the recall of the JOB set that driver to your specs too.

Everything went perfectly.

I think Terry got the same result, but he can speak for himself.

Mike is really "into" some heavy programming work, and will have a microscopic look as soon as he gets time.

Thanks Fred. If you need, I can send other Qimage files. FWIW, "Control with no parent" suggests a user interface problem. If there is a "debug" mode in Qimage that I can enable, please advise.

I'm also into some heavy deadline work for another week, so my response time will be longer (than it normally is!).

Cheers!

I just updated to v2017.121 and immediately attempted to reload some of these previous jobs that caused the stream of "Control with no parent" messages. So far, all jobs have reloaded correctly.
