Hello again,

this is another thing I am not sure I understand.

I have an image whose size is 3447 x 2298.

I tried two different "mosaic" settings:
print (to file) to 60x40, using 10x8 paper, 360 dpi
print (to file) to 54x36 using 12x18 paper, 360 dpi

The first case is perfect.
The second case generates images in which the resulting mosaic has the leftmost column composed of 5 columns of white pixels, same for the bottom row.

I noticed because when creating the mirror border for stretching i have a white area at the fold.

I am not sure if this is clear but Mike, if you want i'll be happy to send examples.

One last note: I am using v2014.239 demo version, as I'm still evaluating if I can indeed use QImage instead of another software

Thank you again

Please clarify.
Are you printing a poster on multiple sheets?
What does Mosaic settings mean?

Hi Fred

yes, sorry. obviosuly posting something at 2 in the morning is not conductive to good explanations.

Let me explain again:

I have my source image, 3447x2298
I am in Print to File mode and I select a paper size of 12x18

I add the picture in the

Sorry Marco,
I am at a loss.
If you print a 54 x 36 print on 12 x 18 paper, Qimage goes into poster mode and makers panels for you to paste together.
If you want to print that yourself at home, then why Print to File, and why 360 ppi?

Even Print to File at 360 ppi is extraordinary unless whoever is printing this for you has a setup that requires 360 ppi.

Tomorrow we will try again.

Hello Fred,

First of all, thank you for your responses. Seeing how you guys support your product, I just went ahead and bought it (please note I used a different email address than the one I'm registered with here on the forum)

I am at a loss about you being at a loss Wink

Jokes aside, we are talking about two different topics.

- The technical problem is that QImage leaves a 10-pixel (approximately) white row at the extreme right and bottom of the image that is partitioning in poster mode.
If you wish, I can send you a test image, or we can do a Webex session where I can show you what I do.

- As per the why I do it, this is because I want to create a poster made of canvas stretches. In order to do this, I use QImage to print a 3x3 poster from the initial image, then further process each of the images to add a mirror border on the canvas. However, because of the white line, the images at the right and bottom edges have issues.

I have uploaded to my OneDrive account an example so you can see exactly what I am talking about: http://1drv.ms/1yYFZeI

Again, thank you for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

I think I finally see what you are doing, and to the best of my memory, if I recall correctly, you cannot combine a poster with Borders.

The poster mode assumes that the user is making panels to be butted together and fastened together.
So certainly you don't want borders on panels since the object is to make the joints appear seamless.
Just Cancel the border in Poster Mode, and it should work fine.

Hi Fred,

Yes, this is exactly what I am (would be) doing.

I disable the border and print the poster to file.
Then on each of the poster images I print to the final paper size, adding back the mirror borders.

At least in theory. The theory is ruined by the fact that the edge images has those white pixels I showed earlier.

Did you download the sample image I posted? If you open it, you'll notice that the right and bottom areas have sections of completely white pixels, as if there weren't enough and the program just finished the image with enough pixels to make the picture complete.

Let me know if it is still unclear

Thank you,
Marco Brambilla

I did find one thing that I corrected in v2014.242 that could cause incomplete prints in rare circumstances.  So give 242 a try.  If that doesn't solve it, I don't know what will because we've been printing posters (to file) all day with the new 242 and all is fine.  I did many runs with your exact specs, including the starting image resolution.

Regards,
Mike

Hello Mike

Thank you to you too for looking into this.
Alas the issue is still there.

If you want I can pm you or Fred with a link to a picture that shows the issue so you can try with the exact picture?

Thank you

I don't think it's the image.  I duplicated your pixel dimensions exactly so I doubt the image format has anything to do with it.  I suspect it is something in your setup/settings.  Are you certain you are printing with "Center" placement selected?  Also, try "Help", "Analyze Current Settings" and see if anything comes up.

I wonder about what you are seeing.
Please see screen snap.
As you can see, each panel is numbered.
1,1   1,2  1,3 for example.  These three panels comprise the left side of the poster from top to bottom.
As you can see, panel 1,3 which is the bottom, has a white space.
Is that what you are referring to?
