Title: Where is soft proof?
Post by: GeekStyle59 on December 09, 2011, 09:29:29 PM
Call me stupid (!), but I know I had located soft proof in a menu at one time in QU, but can't find it now -- please help me out. I've looked in the help files but nothing is clear to from that.

Also, when in the edit window, I see ICC override. What does it override and how should I make use of it?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi,
The easiest way to see a  softproof is to hover the mouse over a thumbnail, press Control & Space Bar. That will give a full screen soft proof. Press space bar to toggle soft proof on and off.The profile data can be seen in the bar at the top of the screen.
There is also a soft proof button in the Page Editor.

This can be used when an image does not have the correct profile associated with it, or none at all.You do need to know what the correct colour space of the image is of course.

Boy, was that simple or what??? Thank you SO much, Terry. One more quick thing. I tried to find this info in the Help menu. Is there a separate pdf manual that I could have used?

It is in the Help under Contents, Functions, Soft Proofing. It can be found with the search there  too. After the initial search and "display", place your cursor in the text on the right and use CTRL F to find the detail.
There used to be pdf manual but I can't find it on the web site under Ultimate. There is an old one here: http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/pdf/qimage2009.pdf
Don't forget the learning videos for QU here: http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage-u/learn.htm

Thank you Honorable Metric Man for the extra detail with regard to the Help menu. I never knew that.
