Ernst,
I'm trying to print to file. After I save the specs to print to file it isn't giving me the option to where my print to file is. Where can I find this file?
Thanks for the direction.
Marion
Marion,
Did you actually hit the printer icon to print, the one in the middle of the three printer icons?
You will in default find the file in the images file you opened to set the images in the print queue, with a name with a Q suffix. It should appear among the thumbnails of that file in the Qimage filer window, that one refreshes automatically in this case.
I did not expect that you went directly for that complex method so to check on some aspects: I would use Qimage's color management, extrapolation, print sharpening etc and make little use of HP's driver settings if possible. That means you should set Print to File at either 300 PPI or 600 PPI, Tiff, use the printer settings options and then Qimage color management on. Print to file size that it fits economically within the Z6100 roll width without print margins. HP Printer Utility without any color management done to the file (I even do not know whether that is possible) and a print quality setting that asks for either 300 or 600 PPI, print size at 100%, 1:1, original size, whatever they use in terminology. There are a lot of things that can go wrong that way. You could direct the Qimage Print to File saving to a place where HP Printer Utility normally expect files.
I prefer to keep the Qimage route and forget about the auto trimming function. When the images are nested on a larger print page I right click on the print page preview window and select Edit print page to see what could be trimmed at the underside and adjust the print page size in the driver accordingly. True that is also taking time but a safer route.
All written down from memory or imagination (Z6100) I can not check this right now.
