Largest cut sheet print area with an Epson 7900

Does anyone know if there is a way to expand the cut sheet print area using Qimage on an Epson 7900? I called Epson and they told me that a cut sheet has to have a minimum 3mm blank leading edge and 15mm blank trailing edge, and can only be borderless on the sides. I would like to reduce the blank amount on a 24 x 30 cut sheet of Exhibition Fiber, especially the trailing edge.

Hi Andy,

Can't talk specifics, but if you were able to print full length of sheet, then you would get ink on the platen - paper size/feed is not too precise. Ink on the platen equals messy next prints, so Epson set the sizes as large as they dare. If you were to tape a sheet on the back of your paper, longer than the length of your paper, then set a custom size, you could probably get what you want, and possibly gat a bonus of a few paper jams too Wink

Some folk do similar to feed canvas through lesser printers.

Thanks. I guess I will just have to alter my paper ordering to coincide with how this printer was designed. I ordered 3 boxes of 24x30 Exhibition Fiber on sale at $2.62 a sheet, thinking I could print borderless. I'll have to use them for 17x22's, 17x27's, (etc) or 24 x 29 1/4 inch prints.

Hi Andy,

What did you intend doing with the prints? I mean, if they are framed, edges will be lost anyway, or are you mounting them in some other way? Just wondering...

I mount them on foam core and spray them and put them into frames with no mat or glass. I have a few 24 x 30 frames and the largest blank edge is about 1/4 inch or a little less. Otherwise the edge of the print will show. I can always get some 24 x 29 frames made in the future if I want to use those Exhibition Fiber sheets as large as I can, but am trying to get by with what I have at the moment.
